I don't make it on here to often lately, but Nightside told me what happened. I am truly shocked, and just had to offer my condolences. HK33K was one of the most helpful people on this forum, and an offering in accordance with my spiritual beliefs has already been made on his behalf. Truly, the good...

I carry 9mm for SHTF purposes and EDC. Why? I shoot it well, and can afford to shoot it a lot, which makes it possible to shoot it better.

Feel for a weapon is the one thing you really can't take someone's word for. What feels fine to me, feels awful to someone else. Only you can tell what feels good in YOUR hands.

Unless it's a CZ-75B. They feel good for everyone

+1 on a high lumen flashlight like a Surefire or something similar. Also, your friend may want to seek additional training besides the occasional range trips. Paper targets don't move or shoot back, so anything you can do to build up an edge against an invader is a good thing. I'd also suggest, like...

Hit the local pawn shops and see what they've got, as well as the local gun stores and see what they've got used. That's how I ended up with my CZ-75B and that was a match made in heaven as far as I'm concerned.

I guess I am shell shocked over some of the stupid court cases I have seen. I have an issue with number 4 from the Box of Truth site. The point of racking the shotgun is not to make the badguy faint but to scare the shit out of him and make him leave before you have to shoot. Though part of me would love to shoot and kill the bad guy and prevent them from committing furthe...

I kind of like how the USPs point, and $600 isn't to bad for an H&K. I'd love to give you some hard and fast advice, but I can't really. Personally, I'd spend the cash on a 1911 of some type. The Taurus PT-1911 has had me interested for a while now.

Tomcat, I would suggest you buy a copy of On Killing as well. On Combat, while it can stand on it's own, is really a follow on to On Killing. You will have a better understanding of the issues if you read both. Oh, don't worry. That one's getting ordered on payday! ;) I'm also looking to pick up "G...
