Re: Shrouded hammer J-frame opinions

My 649 357 is my favorite carry pistol. I own all 3, shrouded, hammerless, and traditional exposed and the 649 is my favorite hands down

Espada XL for a backup weapon, and usually a Cs kudu for eating/packages so I don't scare everyone

Re: Revolver versus Pistol

From a practical argument...I recommend a semi to anybody. I trust my life to a Glock and a Sig on a regular basis. That being said, what I usually carry off duty is a Smith 649 357. I CAN'T quite explain it, but I feel comfortable with it. Speed strip full of Hornady Critical Defense 357 in a coin ...

Re: My S&W Model 1917 with short range report

Beautiful, I have one that is eventually gonna be a finished project. It's out of timing, and I am contemplating buying a second barrel to chop down, someone did a very nice front target sight on the one it came with.

Re: .357 Smith and Wesson

Jealous, that 581 is an awesome gun! No frills self defense gun that can handle a steady diet of 357 ammo. You will be good with the Barnes XPB Vortex. I either carry that or Hornady Critical Defense in my 649. While there is no "Magic bullet/caliber" you should never feel undergunned with a 357, th...

I like the 8 shot Smith's a lot....but get a stainless. Durability is an issue in magnum scandium frames

Re: New carry piece S&W 649, and a nasty pokey thing!

So, got to the range today, wanted to see what would give up first, my 649 or my hand...So I grabbed about 250 rounds of .38 158 Gr reloads and 75 rounds of 357, 50 Blazer 158, 20 Barnes Tac XP, and 5 I just had laying around. So here it is in it's natural surrounding looking all pretty http://i4.ph...

Re: SHTF- is there a role for SA pistols AND revolvers?

Btw...my sig p226 has only had one malfunction in over 10000 rounds and it was with a magazine older than me...carried by my dad in his 20 year carry 226 with over 30000 rounds. My glock 29 has never malfunctioned in over a thousand. Hell...my smith 469 has been dead nuts reliable and it has had the...

Re: SHTF- is there a role for SA pistols AND revolvers?

Revolvers I prefer for pocket carry, you can shoot more than once through a Pocket at close distance with one....my most recent topic is my 649 I just picked up. It will do its job in my pocket, for anything else semi autos are king...

New carry piece S&W 649, Range Report!

Went into a local shop today and they had a S&W 649 .357 Magnum for sale for a good price of $499 gently used. JUST picked it up so no chance to shoot it yet but I have wanted one for a long time and never got around to picking it up till now. Traded in my Walther PPS for it to boost the trade a lit...

Re: Which Glock?

Glock 19 is awesome! Congrats! I love my 29 though...more spendy to shoot, heavier, but the thing is a pleasure to shoot with even Double Tap pressure loads. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/germanman/stippling004.jpg Have a factory 3.5 connector and a smooth trigger in it now...awesome to shoo...

That thing is begging for a Surefire rail with an X300! It will look like a modernized version of a early 92 in American Rifleman last year with an extended barrel and old gen. Surefire weapons light!

Man, pair that bad boy with the Stoeger Double Defense and a tactical Single Action Revolver with picatinny rails, laser sight, and bayonet mount and that would be da shit! Kinda like this? http://westlakeengineering.com/mediac/400_0/media/DCP00254~Matchmaster.jpg Sorry...I think thats kinda hawt.

I love the G3 platform, and know that PTR has a good rep, but mine started to go sour... But I think it was a bad gun because all the other reviews have been stellar!

I love my LMT MWS but that set me back a couple bucks, for a $1000 price range I would go with a PTR or even a used DSA
