Re: Choosing a Camouflage pattern

Best multi-environment cammo I've found is the Rhodesian bush pattern. I nearly lost my jacket twice, just by setting the thing down. Once in northern New Mexico, and once in south Mississippi. If you can find two more different environments than that... (Sadly, I lost mine to Katrina. I need...

Murphy doors

I'm about to be buying a house and, being the sort of person who hangs out around here, I'm looking at setting up some concealed storage space. Has anyone used these folks ? I've seen ads for them popping up on Facebook. They make pre-made, ready to hang secret doors. I'm thinking the closet of the ...

I've always been into this sort of thing, if you define "always" as "since around Jr. High". What got me into actually following through on my interest in a serious way was Katrina.

Re: Trader Joe Coffee Options for Bobs, GHBs, etc.

The Korean grocery near my apartment has various brands of pre-sweetened & creamed coffee sticks as well. I suspect that they're going to be cheaper than the TJs version.

Anyone have a recipe for Nutribun?

Ran across this while wiki-walking, and wondered if anyone here might have the recipe for it.

Cold Steel Smatchet machete. basically a slightly lighter version of the OSS heavy knife/small sword. It replaces the cheapie generic stamped steel machete I had. The handle on that one broke the first time I went to use it. :gonk: The bamboo growing in my friend's yard is doomed, I tell you. Dooooo...

Re: Arguing With Survival Experts

Haven't seen the video yet, but any huge markings saying you're a prepper would be a serious violation of the Gray Man principle. All I've got on my truck that would clue someone in is a ZS sticker that everyone thinks means I'm a Nine Inch Nails fan, and my ZS Fleet Vehicle number. I don't even put...

The one I just bought from Smokey Mountain Knife Works came with the false edge sharpened, and thus not so false. Haven't had the chance to put it to the test with yardwork just yet.

So, would the plural for members of that second skinhead group be PEN1s?

I live in NOLA which is a port city and a huge percentage of refined fuels go through the ports along the GOM from Houston to Pascagoula,MS. An attack on this area would deprive the US of most of it refined petrochemical products. I've seen the Cold War era targeting maps. In the event of toe-to-to...

Target shooting out in the deserts of New Mexico. There was this berm along the side of a road about 25-30 yards away. At ground level near one end of the berm was a piece of culvert pipe ( This sort of stuff ) sticking vertically out of the ground, about 4' tall. I think it was covering a water qua...

Re: Russian Sabre Rattling

I've heard it said that economic crises take long to get going that you'd expect, but when they do break open, it's always much more suddenly than expected. Based on that, I'm guessing the Euro's collapse will hit like the Soviet one did, leaving a lot of people going, "Wait, what?"

I recall that FerFAL wrote that during the previous Argentinian collapse, a cigar box of bling was more useful than a stack of Krugerrands. With the bling, you can convert just the amount you needed or you could barter more reasonable purchases.

Get out of an apartment & into a house. Preferably to buy, not rent. Going to take some intensive credit repair after last year's high maintenance girlfriend knocked a bloody great smoking hole in my finances.
