Re: BOB GRADE

you're carrying way too much weight and a lot of it is pointless, like the shotgun, 300 rds of 9mm? for what? FOUR bandannas? for what? defense spike, when you've got a kukri and belt knife? why? Ditch the kukri the saw and the belt knife, in favor of a Cold Steel shovel, leatherman Crunch multitool...

Re: Poll time! You are the first newly installed air marshall.

I"ll take the buckmark, if I can shorten the barrel and the butt/mag, thin the butt a lot, for better concealment, and add a silencer of my own design. Best chance for a good outcome is a braced position ambush and brain hit, without anyone else noticing much of anything.

Re: 8 Survival Myths That Will Definitely Make Things Worse (vid

there's lots more myths, like a ferrorod is better than a (quality) lighter. It aint, when you;'ve lost the use of one arm/hand, or when you dont have time or materials to make everything nice. You can drip a bit of fluid out of your Zippo and get a fire going under almost any conditions. :-) Like a...

can't see why you'd need anything other than the pistol for getting home from Brooklyn.

Re: Survival Kit Reviews; Pics and Comments ONLY!

with the best skills and knowledge, you still need 5 lbs during the summer and 10 lbs in the winter. Stuff happens swiftly, you're often WAY too sick or injured to be moving about collecting any natural means of making shelter, or even gathering firewood or getting to water. Many areas dont have suc...

Re: Best cheap 9mm for PAW trade? Star BM 9mm for $200?

the pistol needs to fit in a pocket holster, for shtf, especially. Out of the elements, out of sight, out of the way of the pack harness, hip belt, and accessible. Kahr's CM9 is where it's at. You can find them for $350, brand new. I'd not be trading guns. .22lr, ammo, MAYBE, silencers for .22's, ma...

Re: Survival Kit Reviews; Pics and Comments ONLY!

IME, any kit of less than 10 lbs, excluding water and food, but including extra clothing (more than office wear, so to speak) is almost totally a joke. When things go bad, they tend to REALLY go bad, and the smaller kits just aint gonna be sufficient. In other words, if they suffice, you could almos...

Re: Survival Kit Reviews; Pics and Comments ONLY!

$168 for that? Where can I get a contract to provide them to the AF? Mylar blankets? IME these are worthless (as blankets anyway). That depends upon which mylar blankets that you are referring to. I agree that the shirt-pocket types are worthessly fragile. The heavy duty "casualty blankets' work we...

Re: The Coming Civil War

my local Walmarts still hide the .22lr ammo under the counter. If you ask, it's there, but they clearly dont want you buying it by the 5000 rd case. 6c per round is a lot more reasonable than 16c a round, that much is certain. I'll keep voting for Republicans for that reason alone, even tho I've sto...

The collapsible stock is needed, so your wife or kid can use the rifle properly, so you can adjust for thick clothing, armor, pack harness, etc.

Re: History Channel Alone survival series

Dave has never explained why he didn't move from his worthless first cove to the next area, where his net worked and he found a natural crab trap in the kelp beds. The answer is, of course, that he never figured out how to make an outrigger raft. I'm not talking about crossing the Bering Straits, as...

proper mouse traps for the Alone tv show

make flat bottomed basket out of wines/shoots. Line it with a chunk of tarp or sheet/hammock, seal it with the duct tape. make a roller stick, make bait out of fishguts, cambium, salt/water. Shawn's "walk the plank" traps could be so made, too, of course. Once you hole up in the grass-stuffed 4x4 x ...

Sam won, by being fat and lucky, as have all the previous winners. Only one of 54 entrants have had a clue how to properly feed themselves, and he succeeded only by being very lucky. Season 2 winner, Dave McIntire.

Rule 1, my word is law. Rules 2 and 3 are the same as rule 1. I wouldn't do it, actually. My kid, my wife, that's it.

what 10 items would you pick for the Alone TV show?

and how would you utilize them. Here's the list. some of the info is incorrect, since season 5 is not a team event, like season 4 was. But mostly it's just the extra knife, sleeping bag and ferrorod that are different. The 5 lb rations have been reduced to 4 lbs. the original 150 sq ft of 2" mesh gi...
