Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

I just ordered that model grip as an add-on item when I placed an order on Amazon. I should have it by Saturday so I'll be able to try it out this weekend and see how I like it. Only $8.76 as an add-on. I think you'll like it. After shooting mine both my dad and my father in law put them on their r...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Just out of curiousity, how many rounds total did you run through it? I ask because when I bought my wife an LCP, when we took it to the range, the two of us made it through I think 5 mags total (1 of JHPs, 4 of FMJ) because it was just so unpleasant to shoot. I have been carrying an LCP since the ...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Stopped in at Walmart last night, first time in that massive center of capitalism in nearly 4 years. No guns on clearance sans one bolt action rifle. I asked the guy at the counter and he just looked confused, as I expected him too, and said "I don't know we would drop prices, we sell a lot of...

Re: Take down or traditional

My department has a couple 10/22's that we used for putting down feral or nuisance or injured animals. Each rifle has a Primary Arms red dot and a 25 round mag loaded with CCI Stingers. When we decided we needed a couple more we purchased 10/22 Take Downs and set them up the same way. While the take...

Re: The Best Handgun Caliber

I agree that they should have had a hunting component, but I did like how it attempts to dispel myths like the .45acp being an instant killer while the .380acp will bounce off and land on the ground. So much of what people believe about guns, ammo, etc. are based on tall tales and unproven theories ...

The Best Handgun Caliber

No, this is not one of those threads. This is one of those "real world" statistics videos that I found interested and decided to post. Especially since it kind of goes against what is perhaps convention wisdom about handgun calibers. As with ALL things we draw our own conclusions based on beliefs, p...

Re: Think you know 'bout the PAW?

However, and again, if PAW stands for "post apocalyptic world" and apocalypse means either the literal end of the world or an event involving destruction or damage on a catastrophic scale, then are these regional events PAW? I would say no they are not. They are breakdowns of society and they do cre...

Re: Think you know 'bout the PAW?

Not to put sand in anyone's undies, but I always thought of PAW as "post apocalyptic world" or the end of the world playing out before you. The examples in this thread do not hit me as apocalyptic but regional critical events based on politics, weather, social, or other factors. It feels like if you...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Stopped in at the gun shop this morning, saw that they had filled up the used mag box. Ended up buying 10 well used 17 round 9mm M&P mags for $90. The finish on the mags is definitely worn and a couple base plates are cracked or dinged up, but they all seemed to be in working condition. I have a pil...

Re: Personal SHTF After Action Review

Most people are one major life crisis away from being destitute, if they realize it or not. Which is why I operate without debt, have no lines of credit, use cash only, and live well below my means. But I did not get here without having first found out what it was like to live with no money, no food...

Re: Gun.deals has an upgrade that sort of sucks. But it's still got the best search function.

Well that's weird. It is slow as crap at home, at work, on my phone, etc. Every other site I visit is smooth and fast. Gun Deals just hangs and hangs. I wonder if they have a ton of trackers and bots and one of my blockers is slowing it way down. If so that creates a whole other issue. ETA: Checked ...

Re: Gun.deals has an upgrade that sort of sucks. But it's still got the best search function.

I don't know if it's just me, but gun deals is also now super slow since the update. Like "I haven't been going there as much because of it" slow. I hate when these sites decide it's time to use an upgraded software and then don't upgrade the hardware or increase their bandwidth to keep up with it.

Re: Buying preps in bulk may not be a good idea

I don't go by dates, I go by the old 3 step review: if it smells okay, and it looks okay, and it tastes okay, there is a 95% chance I am not going to die or spend the next 3 days on the toilet. Dates are just marketing ploys to sell more product or hedge against liability. When I say my stuff was ge...

1. I swapped out my avatar so as not to cause confusion.

2. My preferred zombie killing tactic would be the dual machete windmill, aka the windmill of doom.

Re: Best cheap 9mm for PAW trade? Star BM 9mm for $200?

There is probably still a large stock of .40 laying around your police station. SO it would be a good buy for you. I agree. Those police trade in's might be worn a lot. But from holstering more than firing. And probably have the majority of their life left in them. I also like your idea of swapping...

Buying preps in bulk may not be a good idea

Several years ago I started prepping, or more accurately I adjust my preparedness from short term to long(er) term. When I did I could not buy enough stuff fast enough. I felt like I needed to go from 30-60 days worth of supplies to 365+ days worth of supplies in short order. I did not fully take in...

Re: The Coming Civil War

my local Walmarts still hide the .22lr ammo under the counter. If you ask, it's there, but they clearly dont want you buying it by the 5000 rd case. 6c per round is a lot more reasonable than 16c a round, that much is certain. I'll keep voting for Republicans for that reason alone, even tho I've st...

Re: Poll time! You are the first newly installed air marshall.

If those guns were my only options I would resign my position as an Air Marshall, take a position on the flight deck, join the Federal Flight Deck Officer Program, and pick up an H&K P2000. Then I would actually be able to protect the people on any given flight. Of course in all seriousness it is no...

Re: Best cheap 9mm for PAW trade? Star BM 9mm for $200?

I have read through some of this thread and decided to go ahead and throw in my opinion. If I was looking for some guns to buy now - that I could use for PAW barter, supplying allies, etc. later on. I would definitely not go with milsurp, older production foreign guns, or new production low tier bud...

New here myself, but sounds like we have more in common than we don't. You got a few years on me however and my bodybuilding days have turned to just being happy with maintaining my physical conditioning. That's may way of saying I quit the gym and bought a Bowflex.
