I put an archangel aasks stock on mine
it now looks more like an AK even though that was not the look I intended

I would also concur on a .22lr
however get a ruger 10/22
theyre tack drivers, plenty of accessories available too etc
if you have a tad more in resources I say an SKS
I own a couple of ar's but keep defaulting back to it for a variety of reasons

I buiilt one a fewe years ago with the jetsled jr and pvc crossarms too
however I used a MOLLE II waist belt
there are great items to have, pullling weight sre is easier than humping it through snow

I didnt read all the prior posts

however in a SHTF scenario 308 might be a but more easily available

its hard enough to find everyday normal ammo, let alone one specific caliber when society collapses

I remember when my son did this years back & got a nice patch for his efforts The boy scouts do flint and steel with charcloth. It's a bit different but the same methodology. Totally fun! :D Ah how soon you forgot WW, my son was I think 13 then when he participated on his own in this event here on ...
