Re: Possibility vs. Probability

On a more global scale , I found this a good source of information:

World Economic Forum Global Risks Report

No matter what you think of the "Financial Elite", their point of view is interesting and can only be ignored at one's own peril.

Re: First post have mercy :) Which Handgun?

I can clear the issue of NVG laws in Switzerland. You CAN own: Any NV or thermal optical device that is handheld and can not be mounted on a firearm. You can NOT own: Any NV device that has adjustable crosshairs AND provisions to mount it on a firearm, basically a NV-scope (Nachtsicht-Zielgerät). Yo...

Güggelscheissen Completely off topic: I see what you did there    On topic: I seem to get a different vibe about H&K here in Switzerland and in the US. A lot of friends of mine and me myself own something made by H&K. I never witnessed a stoppage that wasn't user error and everyb...

Re: Never Seen So Many "Out of Stock" Labels for Emergency F

What are the nutjobs thinking is about to happen this time? I haven't heard any fantasies about September. Diffuse fears, heralded by blood moons, strange jewish holiday coincidences, stock market crashes, WW3 between USA, RU, China and the wild middle east, possibly the return of the nephilim by m...

Yeah, that nervousness has already reached Europe to some extent.
I'll go out on the thin ice and claim that fear and hysteria are probably going to cause more trouble than any predicted real events. But it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on events and reactions, just in case. :words:

Re: Dealing with sleep deprivation

Twenty seven cups of coffee and four packs of cigarettes a day. I'm not joking. That seems like a good way to kill yourself within weeks. I usually try to eat lightly with lots of fresh stuff like apples and salads and drink a lot of water. I spread my meals out (coworkers usually comment o...

Re: Is it prepping when...

It's not paranoid, but good sense and foresight to prepare for conceivable or expectable days of turmoil. Even, or better, especially if the problems are manmade, there is no need to feel any sort of shame. Another possibility might be to leave the area of trouble, but I can see that this might not ...

Actually, I'm all for a real. Vault program, one for every neighborhood. I do agree that a Vault in this sense could help in a lot of scenarios. However, I'm not sure if it would be all that helpful if the very medium the vault is built in, namely the earth, is shaking in the projected violent mann...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

.... EDIT. I think the ECB where talking about doing more QE. Does anyone think that this move by the Swiss will force them to do this? No, the Swiss Franc was decoupled BECAUSE of this. the Swiss National Bank had to buy Euros in large quantities to keep the Exchange ratio at 1:1.2 and it would ha...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Yeah, the de-coupling of the Swiss Franc from the Euro was quite the surprise and led to pictures one usually sees in failed economies... it looked like bank runs in progress, but everybody wanted to get some cheap Euros to spend them in "Borderline-Shopping", crossing the borders for shopping spree...

A wind turbine generator running an enlarged air conditioner heat exchanger. I can see extracting the water, but atmospheric water would still be subject to contamination from NBC sources. True, but I think it would be clean again considerably faster than ground based sources. And re-processing the...

Supply of clean water and energy to a community, maybe this?

I think we can all agree that a steady and reliable source of clean water is very substantial for every community, whether urban/developed or rural/off-grid. In view of multiple regions that are sliding into water shortages, and, from a "preppers-viewpoint", the prospect of water sources contaminate...

On my first read-trough, I read that it replaced the M41A in 2013... talk about movie-nerdy wishful thinking  But actually, I could see this construction with a short-stroke system as a potentially viable system. I could imagine myself buying a 5.56 and a 7.62 version to further add to my c...

Received several items of long-storage food, like Jerky and canned Ravioli, of one of my favourite brands. Not sure if that counts in th...
