If the motor was properly cared for then yes these cars are great. Check and see if it has ABS or not. The difference being without the ABS you should have a 8.25 inch rear with 29 spline shafts. Also from 84-86 the Cherokee used a GKN front drive shaft that utilized a CV joint in the front drive shaft. these will bind during steep angles.
