Thanks for the complement. I'm not a hobbyist writer (not knocking people who write as a hobby). Before moving to novels I wrote feature film scripts for several years. This book is a prequel to a multi-book series; the first book is out on pre-order.

I realize that these things aren't supposed to be super accurate, and despite that I was wondering if the little compass in the cap is just water filled? A mineral oil filled or dry compass would be useful for the lifetime of the bottle whereas a water filled will likely develop air bubbles. -Jeff ...

Thanks for posting a review. There's not much out there about the core stoves.

One of the things I'm curious about is how much time it takes for the stove walls to be cool enough to handle and pack away in a backpack.
