Re: Sick in a Bug Out. What do you do?

Just a friendly reminder to everyone (including myself) that antibiotics don't work on viruses. So true Flu won't be helped by antibiotics (z-packs that everyone always asks for). However, a cocktail shot of goodies can help if the diagnosis is not 100% certain. Like thinking it's the flu but it's s...

Re: Glock 19 : How and Why the US Special Forces Adopted It (article from Defense review)

Was the Hi power used in the WWs? Hi Power was only in WW2 as far as I know since it was made in '35. Then again, don't tell Indiana Jones that since he had one in the 20's :ooh: I think the 1911 and .45 both have a huge cult following. I don't hear it as much in the last 5 years since the meme war...

It's warm in Alaska. Kinda ironic, the last two winter's have been overly mild

Just saw that 40 lost their lives and 20 injured.

Sad that evil like this can exist anywhere. I pray for the families.

This is a tough one.

Re: Experimenting with .45 Super (.45 SMC)

On a more positive note. I'm sure some people would much rather eat the gun than get eaten alive. ( maybe not slide first though). This reminds me of a story I heard once , about a guy who was working on the Alaska pipeline and decided he should get a sidearm as protection against bears. But he cou...

I'm not criticizing, I'm just going to tell you what I say to my wife when doing it the right way is kinda spendy but maybe it could be done the cheap way... Well, doing it the right way would probably be less than our insurance policy deductibles and our medical insurance copays if the cheap way f...

Well, I landed in AK yesterday, bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty today. Ole KJ has 90k miles and came with studded Firestone Winterforces. Has standard part-time 4wd with open diffs. So it goes well, but not as nice as the limited-slip rear end as later models. Congrats dude!!! Thank ya thank ya. Probabl...

Experimenting with .45 Super (.45 SMC)

So I have been doing a lot of research on .45 Super / SMC and there aren't many specific threads on the internet with user experience, so I figured I'd chime in to my recent experiences. WHAT: For those that don't know, .45 Super and .45 SMC are basically hopped up .45 ACP rounds with thicker brass,...

Re: Worst SHTF Handgun

I just had a thought about this. Imagine a town of people who for whatever reason all bought 500 S&W revolvers and all learning to shoot them on the day of the Zed apocalypse. That might be the most dangerous town in the world with bullets flying through houses and revolvers sailing out of hands. h...

Re: What ammo to choose while in Svalbard?

Nice research Rick o Shea. . I think it's interesting that you basically have to use a milsurp. The question would be iron sights or scope. If it's anything but 7.62x54r I am probably going with Irons. The Mosin sights always seem a bit off in my experience. Any thoughts from others? I would...

Re: What ammo to choose while in Svalbard?

I'd go .30-06 for pure ballistics. But if I'm getting a beater surplus 8mm Mauser or Mosin, I'd like those for Arctic conditions. So I voted x54r for some sweet Mosin action. We know the Mosin works well in those conditions, so I actually think I’m with jeeper here. Plus, nothing goes better on tho...

Where'd you buy a 2001 XJ for $3000?! That would be 10k anywhere else. :) HAHAHA people may think it's worth 10 grand from the craigslist prices that I see. I bought it for $3500 in 2014 with 112k miles on it from a friend-of-a-friend's father-in-law. Pretty good deal for PA as it had zero rust (sn...
