To keep it on track, I've always like the PLR16 from KelTec.

I've def said that before...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

OK, I just learned something new, and even M1917 related: A small unit of the Danish army apparently still uses the M1917. It's the Sirius dog sled patrol, and they operate in Greenland. https://www.facebook.com/735571209851525/photos/pcb.757615690980410/757615300980449/?type=3&theater I feel like ...

Re: Oto Melara R 2.5 Gorgona

Reminds me of an armored AMC Eagle, I like it Is that a thing? :awesome: Pictures? Oh I meant that if an AMC Eagle were armored, it'd be this... Not that I'm aware of a tactical eagle, but it'd be sick if there were. But... Since the AMC Eagle shares much of the guts with the early Jeep YJ's, the a...

So I had a broken 5" 1/4 drive ratchet that was busted. Craftsman with a Lifetime warranty. Since my Sears went outta business 3 years ago, I swung by Lowe's that now carries Craftsman. They didn't have a Craftsman in stock that would replace mine, but I offered to trade it in on a $20 Kobalt versi...

Re: I'm moving to Alaska.

please take chains, have a stove or other way to stay warm if the Jeep takes a dump. Buy an Alaska Milepost to see what gas stations are open in the winter, ditto for hotels. The Milepost also has distance between points. Take at least one 5 gal gas can, just in case. Temps today in Ft Nelson BC, f...

Re: I'm moving to Alaska.

Block heater for the jeep? I'm considering it... but I don't know much about them. When I was living up there last winter, no one really had them. I guess modern gas cars do pretty well and remote start just makes sure it's warm for the driver. I'm looking at the oil pan heaters... the cheap stick ...

At first I thought that Mossberg was another Taurus PT111111111111

But... after watching the video, looks like another good competitive option pending tests and reviews

Re: Consolidating my 9mm collection to one platform

Well that's a very backed opinion!

I like .45 ACP, and like .45 Super and SMC more!

But, for cheap range fun and magazine capacity, 9mm is tough to beat.

Updates: Officially leaving for Canada at the end of this month. Trying to make the 4000 miles in 5 days. Also, took the Harbor Freight cargo rack back. Never buy a "flip up" version as it bounces like crazy. Got a solid version to haul some gear. Also, I receiver tightener is a great invention. Con...

That Kobalt set looks nice!

Also, when looking at sockets, get 6 point not 12 point. You'll strip less bolt heads.

Also, if you watch torture tests on YouTube, you'll see that Snap-On, Mac, or SK aren't really worth the price for most people.

But if you find old ones at a yard sale, buy those up quick!!

Re: good starter tool set for home and auto use ?

For a "non-professional", Harbor Frieght is my top pick for most tools if you have one nearby. Their house brand for most hand tools is "Pittsburgh Tools" made in Taiwan and they are quite good. Stanley sets from Walmart are also quite nice. I run Craftsman as my "mechanics tool kit", but all my wre...

Or, if ya just gots to have that Glock mag, the Just Right and TNW Aero 10mm carbines. :ooh: I don't reall...

Re: One Tigris bags, anyone familiar?

I have their dog vest for my beagle. Standard decent quality. It will be the same "made in China" quality that you see with various brands on Amazon or in Walmart. Good enough for most duties. If I were to do a 7 day wilderness trek that's life or death, I may upgrade. But for regular stuff, I would...

Re: Chinese Military's SUV Claimed Toughest on Planet

The approach, departure, and break-over angles on that bad boy suck! Compared to what? Compared to a bone stock Wrangler they look comparable to me. I also highly doubt there is much room for suspension travel. I don't doubt that a team of engineers can design a car to pass specific criteria, knowi...

I'd consider a Ruger Blackhawk convertible in .357/.38/9mm

Or an EAA Witness in 10mm (all steel and maybe conversion slides)

At least that's today's thoughts

Re: Moab bought a '99 Jeep Wrangler TJ!

3.75 BS is exactly the size of the rims I'm looking at buying eventually. Will look a lot like the last pic. But not that much lift. Eventually a 2-2.5" lift. Probably OME. But I'll check those guys out. I need a light spring. I'm not off roading that much if at all. Logging roads and the like are ...

Re: I'm moving to Alaska.

Updates: Considering driving through Canada. Shipping my Jeep from Seattle with gear in it will cost roughly $3000. The point of driving my beater there is to save money, so it looks like I'll be suffering the 70 hours to get there the long way. Also, the Harbor Freight 750lb cargo carrier is super ...
