Re: Ttell me what to do now: red dot handgun edition

I think the more important difference is etched reticle of the ACOG. Even without illumination in daylight you have a reticle.

Re: Ttell me what to do now: red dot handgun edition

I would say the dual illum is the only one I have any confidence in. The red led was better when it worked, but it became inoperable twice, so that is worse I guess. Either way the irons were visible, though the tritium front sight was dim through the lens. The amber dot was just not visible enough ...

Re: Ttell me what to do now: red dot handgun edition

It was an RM02 that I had. If I go slide mounted I'm leaning toward the M&P long slide right now. I prefer the balance of the longer slide, but a lot of benefit is lost since you're not using the extra sight radius. If I go with a Glock it may be a 34 or 17 along with shortening the grip to G19 size.

Ttell me what to do now: red dot handgun edition

Among other things, I have a desire for a red dot sighted polymer handgun in the near future. Some of you may remember that I had a red dot Glock 19 some time ago, but after going from a dual-illuminated RMR to an adjustable LED I began experiencing failures. After 2 sights went down I lost interest...

Smaller is sometimes better. The 19 offers a full sized grip while allowing more discrete carry options without giving much, if anything, up

Re: Army to Seek More Powerful Pistol

Despite my love for 1911s, I voted Glock... Hope it'd be a 21 but suspect we'd go w/a 19 and/or 17 combo. Kind of like a full size and Officer model 1911 but in 9mm. My G21 feels like a piece of 2x4 lumber in my hands but it shoots well and think it'd hold up well in Gov't trials. Without a manual ...

Honestly, I just wanted to share my story. To be fair, he could usually have any shooter adjust their grip or trigger engagement a bit and be on enough to qualify.

That's not a malfunction, it's a "feature". In the event that both your trigger fingers are injured you're still in the fight

Re: Black Bear Rifle

I've hunted PA black bears for many years, but not recently. Once I saw one the last day of turkey season, Saturday. The following Monday in the same area we didn't even cut a fresh trail doing multiple drives. Sometimes it's more about luck than anything.

Re: Realistic Pistol Capability

Well, this is all fine and dandy if your aim is spot-on. But if your aim (sight/bore alignment) leaves something to be desired, that pistol trigger correction mini-guide might just begin a wild goose chase of epic magnitude. If you're shooting all over the place, it's probably not your trigger sque...

Re: Glock MOS line?!

Oh sweet Jeebus.....Me wanteee G35MOS Can you guys set me straight here a little bit? As soon as I saw the link Quazi posted, I saw that that weapon shown there (.45) does not have a cutout on the slide. I then googleificated for awhile and found some "G35 MOS" for sale. They had the MOS but also h...

Re: Vehicle rifle rack

I don't mean to jump up on my soapbox and preach, but let me do just that for a moment. Generally speaking, I am opposed (greatly) to storing firearms in vehicles. While there are better (higher security) and worse ways (glove box, trunk, under the seat) of doing it, many weapons are stolen from ve...

Re: Remington R25 308? yes, no, does anybody have any compla

I've been on and off about getting one of these in 7mm-08 since they were first released. I have no practical use for one, because I choose not to hunt with a rifle. Even if I did, I couldn't in my home state because it's semi automatic. I try to tell myself that, but I always come back to "maybe on...

Soon? That's not necessarily correct either. Kel Tec also has a track record of under delivering on their new products. I wouldn't count on buying on at MSRP or lower for at least 18 months from the time they are actually for sale anywhere.

How did no one mention the Ruger SR-762?? .308/7.62x51mm, AR style, Piston operated , Skkrrrt... Is that a benefit somehow? Sig Sauer SSG 3000 looks promising in this article: http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gun-shots/2013/05/new-rifles-best-rifle-rifles-review-rifles-test-gun-test-2013 This tacti...

I do wonder if tracer ammo would shoot to the same point of impact since it must have less lead to allow for the tracer material. Anyone shoot enough tracer to have an idea if this is true? Also I also see people make comments about the possibility of causing a fire from tracer ammo. I would think ...

Re: AR-10 (or something) in .308

The DPMS GII or whatever they're calling them seem to work well, several members here have used the S&W 308s as well. The HKs have a good reputation as well. I looked up the S&W MP-10, liked what I saw but I don't think it has sights for if the scope fails. Does anybody know if that's true / false?...

Re: Practicality of a Post Apocalyptic Sniper?

No offense taken, I just wanted to make sure something I said hadn't been understood that way. Fair enough. But my references to "modern combat" and "Afghanistan" should still be relatable. If they are accurate. I hear most engagements are further out in Afghanistan. But the same ranges could be app...
