Re: Lever Action vs. Revolving Carbine

Now .500 S&W is a totally different beast. No way in hell would I fire one off in a revolver. A rifle might be different because of the weight, but I'm not touching off a .500 S&W in a handgun. firing a .500 mag revolver with a muzzle break isn't bad. I was pleasantly surprised at the lower than ex...

Re: Pig Ebola virus Sends Shock Waves Through Global Food Chain

Sounds like the start to World War Z..... If I'm not mistaken, swine flu/virus isn't the same as ebola? It's not a flu or ebola. "Like Ebola The strain of African swine fever spreading in Asia is undeniably nasty, killing virtually every pig it infects by a hemorrhagic illness reminiscent of Ebola ...

Re: New York denies request to allow 44 unvaccinated students back in class

This is the problem with arguing for any sort of research into vaccines. I'm not saying take vaccines out of society tomorrow. I'm saying maybe we should do more research before considering it standard practice to use children as guinea pigs for large numbers of them combined. The experimentation p...

Re: New York denies request to allow 44 unvaccinated students back in class

Regarding the decisions on vaccination: I"m not real excited about governments or others telling me what to do. I think the ranks of homeschoolers will be glad to welcome them. Homeschoolers tend to be a counter-cultural crowd anyway. but the government isn't telling them what to do, it is just set...

Re: anybody know why Southern Ohio Guns has no guns for sale?

SOG had been dealer only for a while. I remember trying to order form them, and being told no.
I had to stop by my LGS and they ordered it, using my CC. that had to be ten or more years ago (and I still miss that LGS).

Grabagun has decent deals, and I haven't had any problems with them.

Re: The Ongoing Man Made Opiod Catastrophe

Let me tell you a story about my son. A few years ago he was in a bicycle crash that required some stitches. I took him up to the ED and he got stitches. After the Doc asked him what his pain level was and my son truthfully told him a "2" out of "10". The doc promptly wrote him a script for Percoce...

for shooting FA I recommend Battle Field ( https://www.battlefieldvegas.com/ ) we were out in Vegas last summer and my wife surprised me with a trip there for my birthday. the HMMWV picked us up at our hotel, the staff was friendly, and the range staff was helpful, and vigilant. after they dropped u...

Re: Arsenal 107 vs DSA FAL voyager?

I have a bad habit of thinking more like a lackluster collector instead of a prepper sometimes. doesn't sound like a bad habit to me. my collection is just that, a collection, with some weapons that are also good for prepping. most of mine are not. who would ever want an AR-7 pistol, or a USAF Zip ...

My vote would be a NAA .22LR, which more than a few people carry "just in case". Just in case, what? Just in case you have to put a chipmunk out of its misery? Your on the right track, but I feel the black powder version would be even worse. but I am not sure that anything NAA is really "mainstream"

Re: Considering buying an SKS, but...

My fixation with the SKS is that I do live in a ban state. Our Attorney General banned any further import of "assault-type" rifles into the state, so long story short, all AR-style weapons can only be sold from one resident to another. Any semi-auto, detachable magazine type of rifle may as well be...

Thinking of a big bore AR, looking for opinions.

I have the bug for a big bore AR-15. looking at the cost of ammo, I will be reloading for it, and with that in mind I want a straight walled case. I have found the .50 Beowulf, and the .450 Bushmaster.
which is better for a range toy?

I wish someone would make one compatible with XD mags; I already own the pistol, dangit. Theoretically I could pretty easily convert my mags for a Beretta 92-compat one, but AFAIK offhand there's only the CX4 Storm and some even more expensive AR PCCs. :\ look up Thureon Defense, they make an AR-is...

Re: "Blast" from the past: the USFA Zip 22!

Also, didn't USFA used to make really good Colt SAA clones or am I thinking of another company ? Nope, you're right. They even sold the tooling for the SAA clones to finance the manufacture of Zip22s. Apparently the owner thought they'd sell a gajillion of the Zip22s and buy the tooling back later....
