Re:

When I was in high school 30 years ago, the 'Coming Ice Age' got almost as much press as 'Global Warming' does these days. Yep, according to the accepted wisdom back in the 70's by now we would all be cannibals, living in the glaciers, out of oil, heat, food and overpopulated to the point of collap...

Re: Massive power outage in San Diego

Remember that fear can be a good thing, it tells us not to jump off of that cliff. It tells us to be careful in that dark ally, maybe not go down it at all. And it tells us to be ready for all of that impossible, unlikely bad stuff that rational people just know will never happen. I try not to let f...

Re: A side effect of the Earthquakes in Japan

I hate to sound cold here, but your height above sea level and your distance from the 100 year flood zone should be part of your prep planning. Admittedly many people don't have much choice, but it *IS* something you need to think about and it should be part of your search critiera when you are loo...

Re: A side effect of the Earthquakes in Japan

Yep a lot of people are in that OH SH*T mode. "I didn't plan for this, and it is getting worse. I better buy a year supply right now!" It's like trying to buy a fan during a heat wave. Except you went to the store for tooth picks for your party. No tooth picks on the shelves and the tooth pick fair...

Saw this on SurvivalBlog.com and thought it was worth a look

I read SurvivalBlog.com on a regular basis and a recent article lined up well with a question I was asked by a person new to preparation that I though it would be worth bringing it to peoples attention. The fellow comes up with starting a 100 plan, then a 1,000 plan then a 10,000 plan as you're dedi...

Re: Katrina Experiances Note this is very long

I had written up a large post about my experience living in New Orleans during Katrina, but realized that the best advice I could think of had already been given. Hex, I have to agree with Raptor here, tell us what you came up with, it might be something we have not thought of. Like; One thing I ca...

Guys, I have about convinced some of the folks at a local shooting school (in Tulsa, OK) that a Zombie shoot would be a good idea. :D However, I do not know the first thing about organizing one. Does anyone here have any ideas? Sherlock, Welcome aboard! I am nearsighted and wear glasses. What I do is hang on to all my old glasses when I get new ones (my prescription changes a bit every few years). And while the oldest ones do not work that well, they work much better than nothing. I tried the contact route a few years back...
