It's spring in the northern hemisphere. In most places that means the world is thawing, leaves are changing color, grass is starting to grow, and some people are shaking off the effects of seasonal depression by escaping the caves they've been hibernating in all winter. A lot of us are capturing that spring magic by hiking through the woods.
While the idea of getting back out among the trees is exciting, it's important to resist the urge to just up and leave without putting together the right gear to keep your fun jaunt through a national park from turning into a B-horror flick. After all, the woods may be zombie free, but nature has a million ways to kill you.
