steel pole

Postby No Limit Soldier » Mon May 16, 2005 9:48 pm

i used to own a rifle and a shotty. but my dad got rid of them so all i have is meatal pole which is basicly a weight lifting bar with one end screwed in to make a niffty hand grip. light wieght but sturdy and effective. i tested it on my brother so im positive it will deal some damage.

...I wonder why your dad took your guns...

All silliness aside, if the pole is a) light enough to use for protracted legnths of time, b) heavy enough to do cerebral damage to a zombie, and c) sturdy enough to be used to cause cerebral damage to a zombie repeatedly, then go for it. I'll look up the source later, but in the (I believe) sixteenth century, a master at the staff went up against three (3!) master fencers from Toledo, and won, so you wouldn't be the first to see a pole as a nice little toy.

BTW, nice Goldeneye quote.

Attacking your brother is stupid and probably illegal, and I don't think anyone wants to hear about it.

the pole is cool, but even cooler is the spear, with both blunt end and the sharp tip it has an advantage over the pole. Dont sharpen it, you can train with a blunt one but with the sharpened one you could really hurt someone (like yourself if you dont know how to use it).

And dont phisicaly hurt your brother, if you cant be friends rather fuck him up psihologicaly (much worse).

Yeah, I've said many times that even though I love swords. A baseball bat is far easier for the average person to wield. i haven't had any proper training with my sword so I would likely just grab a bat.

See if you can make some kind of screw on spike attachment for the other end, then spear with interchangeable heads

I've suggested in other threads that zombies may not be succeptible to pain nor care if they get hit, so they will come at you en masse, not really giving you time to pull a spike out of a head, or maybe even get a good swing in. Think about it-If you're fighting someone with a bat, you'll keep out of the bat's swinging radius until you strike, not wanting to get hit. Zombies won't care, and something moving in towards you can make a difficult target for a high-strength, skull-crushing strike.

if they are coming en masse why would you even ready your weapons, when you can just run, unless your cornered, then you are pretty much screwed unless if you had a full auto shotie or a 50 cal machine gun of some type

Well...here I mean in terms of two to four, as you might be surprised by coming around a corner. I can't forsee an exact situation, but I don't think I need to go through that exercize for you.

Basically, you might have three zombies madly lunging at you at once, each completely oblivious to harm you are attempting to inflict on it.

I join you in the steel pole wielding hunters, but I have customized mine slightly. it amplifies damage a lot more if you weld something to the bottom and make it morealess a long lightweight hammer /axe thing not only that but it hurts living beings more too,not to mention the threat it poses  hope to meet you on the battlegrounds if it ever happens
Peace through superior firepower!

Actually, increasing the mass in the middle makes more of the force of the blow generally transmit into your target.

High-quality Asian staves may well be tapered off on the ends because of the principles discussed in this insightful, if legnthy, article.

that not such a bad idea there. i got the spare time so why not. i put a katana or even an axe head on it.

in the case if i get ambush by zombies i could even try the conbination of kungfu and the pole to fight a horde. such was protrayed in resident evil but then again even fictionly speaking that moive was pretty BS.

Heh, great swords almost make sense against lurcher-type zombies.

The heavier blows and extended range that a great weapon may be capable of would undoubtedly be desirable in a melee weapon. A torso hit with a nodachi or doppelhander should at least knock a zombie back/down, giving time for another blow, whereas any smaller of a sword would simply get stuck.

But no, I'm not looking for an excuse to throw a sword in my B.O.B., no way I'd try something like that...*whistles as he walks away*

This guy had his weaons taken away by his dad, and then he promptly attacked his brother with a steel bar... :?

Do we really need to be encouraging him to turn this bar into an even more dangerous weapon????

I was handling my sword after polishing it yesterday *Snicker* Aside from the fact that it is rather poorly balanced and I'd want something I can grip with two hands *Chortle* I felt quite confident I could lop off a zombie's head with it and be able to wind up for another swing in time to at least crack the next one in the skull with the blade and knock em out.

If you could get a nice, crude, sharp blade for that thing, you could probably slice clear through a couple at a time. Practice swinging it with a weighted bar bell.. That would be awesome.

Can you back pedel any faster?

How old are you? Well I guess since we have decided you are a danger to yourself and to others (specifically your brother, and some guy named Pete) I think we will withhold any further weaponry ideas.
