This thread gave me the motivation to pull out some old CB stuff, I even found my old DC power inverter!

I also just started studying for my technician license and I plan on becoming a ZS member soon, this kinda stuff is very interesting.

I put my studying for General on the back burner last year while I played around some more with my ATV. Maybe I should get a new study manual and see about knocking out that General exam this year. After I finish building another 432MHz yagi and getting a low impedance microphone for my Whyman AVT transmitter.

Until there are more of us on HF, maybe we can get a 2-meter net going over IRLP?

We'd have to find a node somewhere that would be cool with us doing that. I'm not even sure if it's possible to have more than one user at a time. Anyone know more about these? I'm going to try and reach my local IRLP owner in St. Louis and ask them about it.

For those of you who don't know what IRLP is but you have a 2-meter radio, go try it out. It's easy and fun! :)

Freshly paid up ZS member and very soon to be freshly minted General class (just passed tech with 31 and general with 35). Have a 2 meter mobile in the mail and am working on getting a vx7rb. Will have to wait on the HF till I have more space to put up an antenna.

goibhniu,

Congrats on the upgrade.

I once used a very small HF antenna - about 6 feet tall inside a pole supporting a bird feeder. I worked 100+ countries on it with 100 watts, even though it was in a valley.

It's amazing what's possible.

Well technically not even an upgrade just a new license ;) ::BTW:: How long should it take for ULS to populate ?

Things like that do not amaze me, but they do leave me rubbing what little hair i have left from my scalp.

It's taken as little as 3 days for mine.. but usually takes about 1 week.

Well, just took my technician and general test yesterday. Past both of them. Currently have a 10 meter radio with a 5/8 wave antenna. Looking to purchase my first ham radio. Now the fun begins in getting the gear I need. I'm in the Lehigh Valley area of PA. So in ham speak 73..

The other option is to also find a reflector somewhere that'll let us use a channel for half an hour or so.

What's the current status of ZSARC? I know officers were elected, but have there been any meetings? Anything hammered out?

Yes, we had a meeting, unfortunately it was in the middle of the holiday season so we got a little sidetracked. We're working on setting up another meeting soon. We're working on a flyer and some other stuff.

We'll get on track soon, I promise.

You guys probably noticed that I've set up a new section of the forum specifically for the radio club. It's my hopes to get you guys back on track. Mostly because I'd like to get involved but I don't have the time to organize it myself. So, I'm poking you all. :)

If there is anything I can do to help, let me know!

I'm trying to get a meeting together for this weekend.

Officers check your PM's please.

I'd like to apologize to all who are interested for the continuing delays. For my part, I've been preoccupied with other things. I hope to get caught up with what's been happening here & to get us up & running soon.

Thanks again for your patience.

I just got my ZS ID in the mail today and thought it looks like the ZSARC might be on life support I just wanted to let you all know I am interested in helping out with what I can from the L.A. area. I am a Tech since 2006, and am probably going to get my General before the end of the month, and am interested in getting into HF and PSK31. Right now I am primarily a VHF guy.

ZSARC and ZS012 will have a booth at the PPRAA Ham Megafest in Monument, Colorado on July 18th, 2009. We'd love to see locals there if you can come.

Bring some money for the PPRAA raffle, they'll be raffling off several new radios including a D Star :)
