I like the alluminium bats, but you can put nails into a wooden one, just a short spike sticking out enough to puncture a bit but not get stuck.
Put some metal bands around it to hold it together.

He meant the heart medicine patches.

Aluminum all the way. Aluminum bats eventually do split or crack, but after 100x as much abuse as a wooden bat. I've personally broken no fewer than three wooden bats just playing baseball, but have only damaged one aluminum bat, and while it didn't function as well for baseball afterward (if they have a plastic cap on the end it's basically just a funny shaped pipe, and it doesn't regain its shape and transfer power to the ball as well without the cap) it would certainly have bashed in some skull if the need arose.

If I had to buy one now, wood for sure. Pick of an abandoned sporting goods store? I'd have to think about it...

I wouldn't want to carry two bats, a hatchet, a machete, and a shotgun.

I like the feel of a wooden bat better, but I'd be afraid that the wood would be too porous and would eventually pick up contaminents with heavy use.

Wood, no question.

Good American ash Louisville Slugger. Easy to find, easy to use.

I've had an all-aluminum (except for the slip-on rubber grips) Louisville Slugger baseball bat for over 20 years. It's been beat to hell and back and is still just as rugged and useful as it ever was. I seriously doubt a wooden bat would have been able to take that kind of abuse.

For a weapon, though, I'd prefer the shorter, fatter bat, like the youth bats better. I think they function better as a club than the longer possibly thinner adult-size bats.

Full-Aluminum Bats are good cause they have more destructive power thana regular wooden one. But with a Wooden bat you place a Nail in it as Moonrabbit already said. My vote is undecided. I guess i'd have to go with the wooden one I own now.

no really bothered which one you should get, they are both probabily as good as each other and you'll most probabily wont feel much different regardless of which one you use.

People only choose aluminium in my opinion as it is a metal and is light. the only problem being soft.

Definately aluminum. Nostalgia for baseball and such be damned, an aluminum bat is the more durable choice. I've broken a couple of wooden bats using nothing more durable than a baseball. After a few raps on a few zombie skulls, the potential for a broken wooden bat is just too great.
