Doc Simon wrote: Yeah, you should have put it back on the shelf. It was well written and a good book. It may have not been your favorite, but that's ok. If you only read the 'greats' then you also only listen to Mozart, read Dante, and turn your nose up to anything that isn't a 5 start restaurant? Or is it just one thing in your life where you are just too good for what is good to most people?
I never once implied that I only "read the greats". I've got a pretty widespread taste when it comes to books, music and other "art", and I'm sorry that it hurts everyones feelings (why else would anyone get so excited because someone else doesn't like it?), but his type of writing
just isn't for me.
"Well written and a good book" is a statement based on opinion (whether its the opinion of one, or many, it is still just that). I didn't like it, or the Survival Guide.
I hold a different opinion than many of you. Its not the end of the world. Untwist your panties and get on with your lives.
Lighten up guys. Life's too short to stroke out on someone else's opinion of a book.
