Some of you may have noticed a slow or non-existent response of this forum today. We had some problems with data corruption in the database. I worked with the host to get it cleaned up but unfortunately a few posts were lost in the process.

You might want to go back and check to see if you are missing any posts from earlier today and repost them. Or you can go cry in the corner while stabbing a picture of my face because you spent an hour coming up with it and nows it's gone for ever.

Sorry folks. Should be good now. If anyone has any further problems drop me an email. admin@zombiehunters.org

Thanks!

We're having problems again.

I told our host this afternoon to get us a new server for our mySQL database or we're going to start shopping for a new host. The problems we've been having over the last 5 days are completely unacceptable.

Sorry, everyone.

That's right, you better get this working right. You're like a drug dealer- make it cheep, fast, and easy in the beginning, just to get me hooked. Now that I am deadly addicted you take it away, allowing me to start hitting withdraws. You complain about 'server complications' and then BAM I end up paying $19.95 a month to stay in ZS. I am spiteful of having to pay, but I just can't beat the addiction. There is no nicorette of ZS, and I am too caught up to go cold turkey. Kyle wins, Doc Simon loses.

I noticed it earlier and got suspicious. I asked Orion to have a look and he said there was some wierd traffic coming to the site. He recorded it before going to bed. I'll ask him to PM you in the morning.

Already on it.

The forum has been annoying lately, but we'll live (even DS). Good luck getting a good server host if you have to ditch the old one. mySQL databases can be a real pain, but then again, you probably have someone who knows what they're doing working with it...

Website was down on 8/8. I'm really sorry, guys.

I'm getting extremely annoyed now because I don't have the free time to screw around with this. I'm putting our complaints on record and looking for a new home for us.

Short Description: Website Down

I understand there is maintenance going on again, as indicated in my administrative panel, but this seems to be a regular thing that is bringing our site down every few days and interrupting business.

The last time it was down for this long was only a few weeks ago (8/8/07). lately, I'm noticing the web server and/or SQL sever causing us problems about once every few days for around 15 to 30 minutes at a time.

The mail sever seems to be shaky as well. I keep getting notices about the email accounts bouncing. Non of this has happened this regularly until just a few months ago.

I really like the service and tools offered by Directnic but I'm concerned about the down times we're experiencing so much lately.

I'm looking into Doster.com and stargateinc.com

If you have any suggestions for a reliable host (shared or dedicated) that can handle at least 250 gig of bandwidth traffic a month for a reasonable price let me knoe.

Their response, just to keep everyone in the loop, who are probably as frustrated with this host as I am...

Hello Kyle,

I understand your frustrations completely, but all of these down times are scheduled maintenance and are in preparation of the upgrades to both the latest versions of SQL and PHP. Todays upgrades was to the H-Sphere OS interface to version 3 patch 4 (the latest update necessary for the upgrades of SQL and PHP), so please excuse these growing pains. However, in the long run, we are responding to our clients request to make these upgrades, so I hope you can just bear with us, in the eventuality of things getting better very soon.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

Marc Boudousquie

This is bull though. Who the hell schedules server downtime in the middle of the day? I'd get fired from my job if I regularly dropped a production server for a software update at 1pm in the middle of the week.

I'm making plans to move our host.

The forum goes down every night between 1am-1:30am PST anyway, so why don't they do their upgrades then? Even if the upgrades take 2-3 hours, it would be less of an inconvenience than to "schedule" down time in the middle of the day.

The 1am - 1:30am down time things are because of me. I have my own series of back-ups. I don't trust our host.

Although, my back-ups shouldn't bring the forum down. It'll just make it run slower for about 10 minutes or so.

For some reason IE won't bring the forum up during that window. Meh, no biggie. I need to take a half hour break per day.

This is a new error I've been getting all day. My post still works but I keep getting a general error message.

If the margins weren't so slim, and startup costs so high, I'd have to run a hosting company. I basically do this kind of stuff already internal to my employer and I know I could do a much better job than these knuckleheads.

Is it just me or is the index not showing the latest poster correctly? It seems frozen.

Yeah, theres some New Guy who's post count reads "1" but he's posted a few times already. I ignore the Debug err thing and continue because it still posts what I put. I think Dr.Gonzo quad posted somewhere today.

Yeah I just noticed that too. He's posted in several threads and several times in his ntro and still has a post count of 1.

Hello Kyle,

Access to PHP MyAdmin is going to be unavailable until the feature is reinstalled later today. As far as the SQL DB bugs, our administrators are working on this presently and will hopefully have this sorted out sometime later this afternoon. The existing contents of the databases will remain in tact, and will not be affected by this inconvenience. Believe me when I say that we are working on resolution of these problems as quickly as possible, and once the work is completed, the result will be more efficient database administration for both you and our programming team.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

Marc Boudousquie

You should respond with this

Quote:
Hello Marc. In response to your latest email.

Bite me.

Sincerely,
Kyle

Just an idea.

Yeah, the latest post listed for this forum was by me at 8:35pm last night.

And this is my second attempt at posting this. The first time I got that error message everyone is talking about.

Ok, so people need to realize that the posting error message DOES NOT actually prevent your post from going through. Even when you get the error message, your post goes through, so don't refresh, repost, whatever. I say that because we are getting shitloads of triple, quad, and even quintuple posts and I know it's a headache for the mods... and pretty annoying for everyone else, as well.

I've been going around and deleteing the double, triple, and sextuple posts people have been leaving. I usually don't delete posts for any reason, but this is getting silly...
