Easy omelet with pics

Postby One Of None » Fri Jul 14, 2006 9:45 pm

Here's an easy to prepare and cook omelet. We use it when we are camping. Works great at home too, can't over cook or burn it.

Crack 2 eggs in bowl.

Never thought of that! Great Idea! Quick, easy, and not a lot of clean up!

Works great when you're cooking for 6. They are all done at the same time. Better than frying 1 egg at a time.

Didn't think of that either - a bag per person, they can put their own stuff in it and BAM! All done together! Heck yeah... I am trying this Sunday morning.

I use the zip lock freezer baggies. Heavier than the regular ones. You can't over cook them . Set it and forget it. Simple.

Great - I have some of those on hand! I am assuming there's no nasty plastic after taste...

Nope. No dirty pans either . Just the pan that you boil the water in.

You should make this into an infomercial :)

But, it is really cool, I've never thought about cooking something up like that. I just might have to try this method out one of these days.

Nah it would probably be fine, because its not made from powdered eggs.

Also This might even be a good thing to try w/ egg beaters.

I use it for camping. You can skip the bowl part all togather and just mix it in the bag. Just make sure to get the air out of the bag before boiling. The bags come in handy for camping. I cooked the taco meat and the mac and cheese the night before camping and warmed them up in the bag. Saves time and you dont have to have as many ingrediants with you. Theres no plastic taste.

I had the omelets this morning! FANTASTIC. The left over soft taco ingredients made a couple breakfast burrito's that where right up there w/ Sonic's!

Who's got a problem with powered eggs? I've cooked them as scramblers, omelets, breakfast burritos with chorizo, and used them in cornbread mix with all good results. I suspect the poor view of powdered eggs comes form a poor cook, and not the product itself...

Or, I have awful taste...

I started cooking my own breakfast at five y.o. using a similiar method, except I used a cereal bowl, a saucer and a microwave.

Moon eggs:

Prepare egg same way, but put into a ceral bowl and cover with a saucer, cook for one minute.

Loosen edges of egg with fork, and invert bowl over saucer.

Egg should slide out of bowl onto saucer.

Note: this works best with the corningware style dishes where the saucer fits into the top of the bowl easily, but works regardless. Cling wrap could easily replace saucer for cooking purposes.
If there's one thing I wouldn't want to be twice, zombies is both of them!

This is a great idea.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own...
