I know that the law says that if my guns are in a locked case in the trunk, I should be fine traveling through any state in the union...but I have also heard that is not always the case in the Prairie State.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Federal law allows you to travel through a state without problem. Just get gas and food before you enter IL so you don't have to stop anywhere.

On the topic of Ammo, is it better to bring ammo for firearms I don't own but wish to shoot or cash to purchase a bit of trigger time on said firearms? Or is it good to bring plenty of my ammunition for my pistol and to trade for other types and usage? Thanks for the info. I'm off to repack, my pack weighed in at 50lbs :ohdear:

I'm kind of doing a combination of all...

giving JTNieman some 7.62x54R,

bringing a hundred or so 7.62x39 that I have... mind you I have no gun that shoots this round :?

bringing some cash if people want ammo moneyz....

bringing ammo for people to shoot my toys if they want...

For traveling thru the horid state of il.. you just need to have it in a locked case.. ammo in a seperate case... proof of your residency in another state ( us illinoians have to have these stupid firearms cards).. dont speed and dont take it in anywhere with you.. unless your a cop of course

Are there any STL folks (or folks starting from the area) that would want to do an early morning caravan? I'd rather get there before it's a million degrees and will need some help getting my stuff up the mountain. Apparently I'm not supposed to carry a whole lot these days.

No fancy cooking for me this year, so those hoping to cash in on my cooking skillz best look to Horatio Tillis or something.

I'll be bringing my 9 mm for range day. I figure this is my fifth ZCon and I may as well experience the horror stories I hear every year for once. And, you know, shooting guns is fun.

Has anybody tried lining the bottom of their cooler with dry ice? I was thinking about giving it a shot.

zsc023 crew was considering it last I heard... I am personally going to use cryptos method also, and have a smaller fold up cooler for beer runs and what not.

I ended up having to revisitthe house before heading north so I got mesome 54r on clips. I'm basically bringing enough ammo for me to shoot my guns, some extra for the mowing, and that's it. Per usual, anyone safe is free to shootmy stuff.

STL people: the Walmart in Maplewood has NO 9mm (x19) AT ALL and no men's water shoes.

Also, if anyone needs water shoes for Manbath, I have an extra pair. The CVS on Gravois had men's water shoes on clearance, buy one get one free, so I took the last two pairs of men's 10/11.

question...

I know in one of the emails, it listed glass as a no no.

I completely forgot about getting something plastic to replace the glass bottles since I haven't yet purchased my adult beverages....

if I plan on leaving my cooler at registration... can I fill my flask there?... as long as the bottle stays there?

or is the glass rule very strict?....

not trying to subvert rules or anything,

Yeah, I bought the last 200 rounds of 9mm yesterday from there, and their selection is spotty at best anyway.
The Kirkwood Commons Walmart is almost always well stocked, and the staff is much friendlier too. And at the very least, the Walmart in Arnold has the douchiest staff that will talk down on women buying ammo and possibly announce their full address out loud to any listeners, but they're always stocked.

The small round apple/orange juice containers are easy to get at pretty much any gas station. The have wide mouths so it easier to poor into than a soda bottle.

Weather Report for undisclosed ZCON location:

Wed 94* - 66* 0% precip

Thurs 89* - 61* 30% precip

Fri 88* - 60* 0% precip

Sat 94* - 66* 0% precip

Sun 96* - 68* 0% precip

This is from the weather.com site. I find it to be accurate. Here in Missouri when they say 30% chance of precipitation it usually never rains. That's not reason to come unprepared though. It looks like we might have some nice cool nights.

Checking in from Crypto's and B3's basement while I wash the stench of shame, dirt, bug spray, sunscreen, stale beer, stale whisky, and awesome from my clothes.

I have safely arrived at one of St. Louis' fine inns and, like whisk.e, am about to try to scrape ZombieCon off of my body.

I think I still have some steel wool left over after the crystal radio seminar. That ought to work.
