Need some commo help /Advice !!!!!!

Guys, need some immediate help from my Commo Brother's here at ZS. I'm in Cambodia not 10 minutes and have already been offered a RPG-2, PKM, and AK-47 to "take home" along with teenage girl (I declined)........those offers actually kept me speechless for a few seconds......OK, back to the commo.......There are Wouxon KG669's for $40 bucks, ICOM V87 for $30 bucks, IC-V82 for $40...............Ronway dual banders for $60..........I wanna say it was a "KGuVD1P"maybe for $90 bucks and a TH-UVF1 for $60 bucks.......? I probably got some of the model numbers slightly wrong. Are any of those worth it ? Everything is brand new and in packages with all paperwork. There are a shit-ton of ICOM items that I have no idea what they are......There are also some bigger complicated base station looking things for under a C note.........Any one with any experience, is any of this stuff worth it ?

Could they be cheap Chinese knock-offs? I would check with the real MFG to see if they have distributors there. Good Luck!

oo...... there's knockoffs here, that's for sure. The ICOM 's all seem to have the correct paperwork. I 'll till spend 40 bucks for a knockoff just to test it though. The wouxon 's are from China. I figure there real.

Seriously though, I would be careful and check the actual frequency range of anything you buy over there. You never know. Stay strictly away from the weapons. Cambodian prison can not be much fun.

Tough to say if those are knockoffs, if they fell off a truck somewhere, or were straight pirated off a container ship.

I do know that Asia has piracy problems, so that could be a viable route to that market...

Remember that part of the world is notorious for counterfeiting everything under the sun. And they've gotten very good at it.

I've been a victim of it myself. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Ok, grabbed two Icom V89's for 30 bucks each and they are 7 watts. I checked as thoroughy as possible they're genuine. I thought hand helds don 't get higher than 5 watts? Is that because these come from Asia? They have the dual baufeng for 30 bucks also. I think I'm gonna grab two of those also.

How about a beatup SINCGARS looking thing, feels like a brick with a lot of keys on it? .......Dam, this is one time I wish I was a tech -guy..........I 'm getting the feeling most of this stuff is military surplus. It all works though. Wish I had a camera.

I've got a handful of FDC (Fidexian Corporation) Chinese built radios and they run like champs. They even get the crap kicked out of them at airsoft games and keep ticking.

Un-huh. Just a word of warning a lot of countries do not sell stuff military surplus.

I assume you are coming back to the states? You have to go though customs along with all your stuff. Technically the WOXUN radios shouldn't be brought in as they don't have FCC certification but neither do my FDC radios. I'd be willing to bet some military type radio gear would draw some serious attention. :crazy:

Coming back through Customs is a concern, but I wouldn't worry about the Wouxan or the FDC. Both have type acceptance now. Check the FCC type acceptance database and see for yourself.

Coming back wasn't a concern.............they were more interested in talking about my tattoos than my radios. Got a couple radios at about a quarter of their price here......and yes, I went thru all the, "are they real" questions and tests. I had a knowledgeable Brit with me. I got the little Baufeng for $28 bucks.

what tests might those be?
They aren't going to be counterfeiting baofangs but motorola, kenwood etc are counterfeited.
