Hello. I have been checking out your website and forum for sometime now. So much great information and so many cool people.

If I remember right I saw your website on TV one day. I think it was on the news. Your organization was helping with Disaster Information/Preparedness. I really like how you incorporated Zombies into Preparedness. I am a huge Zombie fan and I am also small time prepper. I say small time because as of now I just don't have the room for doing a lot of food storage and such. I also am a avid camper, hunter, hiker. In other words, I just love being outside and enjoying what mother nature has to offer. I love also being a gardener. I have been gardening almost all my life. I love to grow my own vegetables.

I finally decided to actually join the forum and I am thinking of actually becoming a member. That badge is just down right cool, plus I know it goes to doing good things. Which brings me to my next point.

People as a general rule really don't prepare for disasters like we probably should. So many people have only what is in the fridge for that day. Or people tend to just say to themselves "it's not gonna happen here" or "I'll just go to my folks house". When in reality, anything bad could happen anytime and what would you be able to do about it.

You guys rock because you used "Zombies" to aid in that to help to prepare people for disasters/emergencies. Think about for a second. Anytime you watch a zombie flick the world as we know it pretty much came to an end and bad stuff is going down. And what becomes a major problem when zombies take over other than eating you?? Not enough food, water, fuel, etc. Social order break apart, etc. That is pretty much what happens when any Disaster Event happens.

So, in short. Thank you for the time to introduce myself. I look forward to reading and learning more and putting our knowledge together in a single place.

Welcome d3vios. Don't sell your preps short; if you're an avid camper, hiker, hunter and life-long gardener, then I say you already have a lot of the skills (and likely equipment) to weather a disaster better than the average citizen.

As far as not having a lot of room for preps, a few pounds of rice, pasta, and canned tuna take up very little room. Re-purpose some 2 liter soda bottles for storing potable water and again, you're way ahead of a lot of folks. There was a thread a while back where one of the forum members was talking about disguising preps as furniture. I think she had a cool coffee table built around one of those old fashioned glass jugs that office water coolers used to use. It looked beautiful and of course, it held enough water to keep a person clean and hydrated for several days.

I wish I had posted to that thread; such a good idea.......

Anyhow, looking forward to hearing more from you on the forums!

Thank you majorhavoc for the welcome aboard.

I've been hunting since I was little fella. Went on my first deer hunt when I was 8 and having been going strong since. Nothing better than taking your own deer. It never gets old. The feeling of adrenaline is something words can not express. My knees still get weak and my heart pounds like crazy when I square up for a shot.

I defiantly have a lot of gear for just about anything it seems. I have some stuff I have no idea why I have it. I like going to garage sales in my area and picking up a lot of stuff that I might need some day. I just bought a safety harness today as a matter of fact. You never know when you might have to crawl up and hang from something one day. That harness would work out perfect. A lot better than a make shift rope tie off.

I've heard of people using plastic bottles for water storage. Sounds like a great idea and a heck of lot less expensive than the bottled water I buy. I have and keep 10 (24) packs of bottled water on hand all the time. That came in pretty hand back in 2007 when my area was flooded and our water was not safe to drink.

Great idea to about the rice, tuna, pasta, etc. I think I might start prepping on those things right there. I could fill a closet pretty fast with those items alone.

Thanks again for the welcome.
