Wow, they've gotten expensive haven't they? I'm shocked to see that PSA is $10 cheaper than Surplusammo's receiver. PSA's are $79.95 and in stock. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/lower-receivers/psa-ar15-lower.html

I've heard from numerous sources that both Surplus Ammo and PSA lower receivers are made by Aero Precision, which seems to be the Foxconn of the AR world.

Aimsurplus still has theirs listed at $59.99, but they're currently sold out. Something tells me that when they get back in stock they won't be going for $60.

Good luck, Jester.

I'd heard the same on Palmetto and SAA. They seem to make most of the little guys lowers for them but they all seem to be good quality. I'm gonna check at the local gun show in two weeks. If I find a good price I'll grab a lower there and it will save me the trouble of finding an FFL that will do the transfer. If not, Palmetto and SSA are the two I've really been looking at.

And thank you for the good luck. It wil be my first endeaver into the AR world. But its cheaper then buying one out right. I can get the quality right and then piddle with the goodies later.

I spent years pricing and reviewing lowers. After having my hands on them and looking them over, I liked the quality of PSA and Spike's. The price for PSA won me over.

PM'd you Jester, but my messages have been slow to leave my Outbox lately.

Just noticed that Aim Surplus has RGun stripped lowers on sale for $69.95 (I didn't check shipping costs)

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1RGSL

Rguns isn't my favorite company, but the receiver is a bit unusual in that the fire control markings are a combination of words and pictograms, and also has markings for full auto.

I searched but couldn't nail down who makes these receivers. I did find an 2009 thread on AFRCOM where someone claimed that Rguns staff told him that DPMS is NOT the manufacturer but they are made by the same company that makes them for just about everyone else.

That sounds like Aero Precision to me.

No worries Maj. I've been off the net most of the week with a shotty modem.

Well, gun shows, next week. I'm making a list and see what kind of lowers they have on hand. Might luck up and find something good for a decent price. One thing I am not doing is buying junk. I've done enough of that.
