Suggestions on a new medical pack

Postby Sochr000 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:28 pm

About a month ago, someone broke into my car and stole my medical bag that I use both for teaching wilderness first aid, and for medical stuff in the zombie apocalypse. The bag was a Blackhawk Stomp, and wasn't bad, but now that I need to replace it, I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to consider something else.
I've listed the bags I'm considering below, so if you have anything good, or bad, to say about them, please do. Or, if you have a different bag to suggest, please do so.
Things I prefer in a bag are: US made, military style, not too terribly huge, and hopefully not super-expensive.

Bags I'm considering:
Stomp II
M5 pack
BDS tactical trauma bag

Why not look into the TSSi M9 Medical Backpack. I have one and love it. It's really thin and you can put a lot of stuff into it.

I agree with DocZ. I used the M9 bag when I was in Afghanistan and I loved it. It's thin and looks tiny, but you'd be surprised the amount of stuff you can fit in there. You're not going to be able to fit as much as you would in a London Bridge bag or a Stomp bag, but you'll have enough for your needs.

Here's a forum thread about the M9 bag with pictures and members talking about it.

Here's a link to the TSSi page.

I had seen the M9 before, and will look into it more, although the cost is kind of up there.

Another bag I've been considering is this one

Love my M9 (its posted in the link provided above), but Ive been looking at other bags as of recently. Its a great pack, but I dont want it to be my only one.

You can also look at TC3 bags. Theyre small and can fit a surprisingly amount inside, enough for three casualties.

Looks a lot like an M9 bag, and NAR is a good company based off of my experience with them. Considering the price I'd say go for it.

Really like my SO Tech Sliver.
Similar to M9, but has the edge in price.

Hey, thanks! We are proud to report that the TMK-ME recently assisted in an amazing rescue after a plane crash in Idaho over Memorial Day weekend.

We later received a note from the flight medic who used the pack for the rescue. He wanted to let us know that how well the pack performed and how it aided him in the rescue. Amazingly everyone survived the crash and medics were able to rescue everyone via helicopter.

Read the story here.

I was about to suggest the BLACKHAWK STOMP II aid bag as it is what I use for everything I deal with. However, I, too, have been looking for something a little smaller. The BLACKHAWK STOMP II hold a lot of stuff but it's only logical if it's your only pack that you're carrying. With Ruck marches and the like I have been forced to seriously consolidate my medical supplies into my ruck, cutting down on my personal gear that I can carry and taking up more weight. The M9 looks like a good alternative, I might consider buying one after I finish my AR-15 build and get the pistol I'm looking at.
