Took a CPR and first aid class. My work paid for for them and that of 8 of my co workers after I brought up the fact that we should have at least 2 people per shift trained in both to my boss. It's awesome having an avid outdoorsman for a boss!

full of beef and pig.

not a real End of Days prep as I don't have a generator or back up for the freezer, but I like not having to go to the store.

Scored a 5 gallon gas can at a garage sale for $2. Dirty, but in great shape. It may not be the prep of the century, but it gets me further down the road.

Portable AC unit, just in case the main AC breaks in the middle of summer here in AZ. Mountain house freeze dried food for BOB/Camping (camping rotates my old stuff). More Eneloops and case of bottled water.

After the corn from the garden was put away (16 quart freezer bags full plus 1 dozen ears on cob and took 1 dozen to a friend) I was out and about for a bit and stopped by the local gun store.

no 30 rd surplus ak mags in stock :(
still no 10 rd para warthog mags in still backordered :(
standard WASR is now almost 600 bucks :gonk:

Ended up picking up a streamlight TRL-1s and a box of hornady tap 110 grain .308 ammo Seems like a good little weapon light and lower price drove me to choose it over surefire x300. Right now its residing on my .308 saiga but it could go on either of my other AK's. Picked up the 110 grain .308 because I didn't have any of that weight and wanted to try them out.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Our little survival group is thrilled. Now we have land we can hunt on and bug out to within a 25 minute drive of our houses.

Back on topic, I spent the evening pricing black berry, blueberry, and other berry plants to let grow wild on the land.

Beware the deer. Them fuckers almost killed my blue berries and even had the audacity to knock over a fence enclosure around a new cherry tree in the orchard. They've also been eating down my strawberries. About the only thing they won't eat is blackberries. Let the black berries run wild but fence in everything else and remember those little bastards can jump.

Lay fences and then plant your bramble bushes around it. That would be a pretty determined deer to get in after a few years growth :D

Took my 3 year old granddaughter for a hike in the woods (orienteering). I showed her some plants we can eat (foraging), we tracked a bunny for a while (hunting), we avoided some poison ivy (survival), shot the BB gun safely (gun safety), and treated and put bandaids on our scratches (first aid).

I'm training my next crop of minions :-)

I planted some water carrying devices in key locations. (Riding around on my lunch break and when I finished with my plastic tea cup I threw it out the window :D )

What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Postby Drethos » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:09 pm

Bought more ammo and mags, bought a case of mre's, worked on some just in case ideas in my head, got the last bit of money I need to buy my new gun, and escaped nj. Nys is much safer and that's we're all my stuff is. I feel naked when my bugout bag is far away like that.
Also received and recorded my new case of mre's, got the extras for my gun, and started my bugout bag gun cleaning kit.
Also also started recording my bugout bag contents and started a 3 ring binder.
