Yup a tarp works better with an open fire. Nice looking camp.

Definitely.

In the Scouts we would do a 50 mile hike in the Appalachians every year. Each person carried a 50 lb. pack that included a tarp, sleeping bag, and a ball hammock. One advantage of the tarp/hammock setup was evident on steeply sloped ground. Dad and I even set up in a bunk bed fashion under a single tarp. That trip was some of the best sleeping I have ever done while camping.
