This morning: chinups, leg raises, and dips.

This afternoon: first prep session for Spartan in June. Lots of low-crawling through (burning hot!) sand, runs, jogging with a cinder block, and sprints while getting hit with a pugil stick. Good times.

Mowed lawn for 1.5 hrs. I have a push mower and a big yard.

Cleared brush for 1.5 hrs with a machete. Got stung twice.

Nice day of cross training.

Found a huge, mostly intact bowling ball buried in a creek bed. I cleaned it off and moved it around a bunch. Will probably do it again today.

Friday to Sunday, ECQC in 95 degree weather. Hard work, but some pack back for my previous hard work lifting. Very nice to be a 49 year old and be able to push and plant a guy 25 years younger.

rest/recovery today.

C25k Week 5, run 1 (3 5 minute intervals, with 3 minute walking recovery inbetween) plus 300m lap swim. Tired. But feeling like I should high-5 myself--this is day 1 on training for my august triathlon.

About that bowling ball I found....

Me and "Sir Lucius Theodore Ghetto-Ass Kettlebell" spent a few minutes together this evening.

I picked it up, swung it behind my left knee, raised it over my head, did a triceps press, and swung it behind my right knee. I then repeated that motion 50 times.

Things I feel: Low back, shoulder girdle, upper arms, and (I'm assuming the expensive kettle bell wouldn't deliver this last part) my finger flexors and intrinsic hand muscles got a workout.

Things I won't do: Lay on my back and throw it into the air over my face and catch it.

Me and Bowling Ball are on a mission now. I feel all swole.

No more excuses. Starting my regular workouts back now. I enjoy them and it makes me feel better, and generally just live better.

First did some rifle drills, just for practice. Nothing huge. Just getting used to the new gun.

5 sets of 30 pushups
3 sets of ladder pull ups, 20, 15, 10
3 sets of 10 hanging leg lifts
Annnd a set of 25 tricep dips, just for fun.

Week 5/Run 1 of the C25k program, immediately followed by 5 miles on the stationary bike immediately followed by 8 chinups on the cool weight assisted chinup machine. I feel badass. ;)

No workout today, dropped about 25lbs in the past two months and am going on vacation next week. Will hit the heavy weights again when I get back and keep chasing my goal of a 500lb deadlift.
Check out my book, Zombies Across the Border, in the Fiction section and let me know what you think!
