Dave Cantebury Leaves Dual Survival

Bummed about this, I really liked Dave on the show.

Cody will fill you all in on "Who" & "Why" Dave won't be returning to DS as soon as he gets the go-ahead from Discovery. Until then, just know the guy who will be taking Dave's place will be a real Military-bada$$, who's personality&Skills will complement Cody Lundin's.

In regards to my new partner, he (first clue) is a genuine Special Operations warrior. He was hired by the Discovery Channel, thus the Discovery Channel will decide when the time is right to announce him.

If I had to guess it would be ODA's buddy Myke Hawke (hehe :))

Really? That totally sucks. I'm more of the bush hippy than the military tactical type, but I have the utmost respect for Dave. Mainly, because the guy has been putting out videos forever on youtube to help people out to learn how to survive. He's a good guy and even when he was doing the show, still took the time to answer and comment to his viewers. How many other people that made it mainstream took the time to do that? I'll continue to support him by watching his videos and buying a few items from the Pathfinder store. Dave's been doing things to help people in the survival community for a long time and he's put a lot of his own time and effort basically for free just to share what he knows. What I like most about him is he never attempts to pretend that he knows everything there is to know and will take advice if it's given.

Real shame that he's leaving the show. I thought they made an odd but great team.

His name is Mykehawke? Anyone not getting this yet? And he spelled Myke wrong.

That's hi-larious. I had to read it twice. Well done.

I know a guy who would get along very well with Mike Hawk:
Mike Hunt. :)

Maybe now Dave realizes that he would make more money in producing his own show and he would control the content - may be a little less "reality show' and a bit more reality.

Time will tell.

Nah, I think he was just sick of being in close proximity to Cody's big nasty, Bleu-cheese smelling feet all the time.

I haven't seen any new episodes in such a long time, I thought they show was done. I haven't seen ANY new episodes of ANY survival show in a while...

I would much rather have Hawke on their than Bear 8-)

O/T - whatever happened to that new show about survival bunkers?

I don't have the link at hand, but he and a couple of other 'survival' instructor types posted a rather long missive decrying the crap that passes for 'reality' TV. Hence my comment of doing his own show that is a bit more focused on life as found on this planet.

(Shrug) I only watched a few minutes of a couple of the shows and in my mind, lumped it in with "Survivor Island' and the other crap that fills the aether these days.
I understand it takes over 60 hours of video shoots to fill a single hour of broadcast time - perhaps he is just going to write another book?

Maybe we will be pleasantry surprised in the future.

Beats me, Dave and Cody were an informative watch. I presume Bear "Suns going down, time to drink my piss" Gryls will be the stand in. Cody's nanny skills may be tested.

I'm pretty sure Bear cut his ties too. I've had Dave's YT channel on my subscribe list for years, but I never paid attention to the # of people who watch an epi. I wonder if part of it is that he got enough exposure that he just doesn't have to do it anymore.

I'm very curious to see who Dave's replacement is. All Cody has said is he's a "Special Operations warrior." Any chance it could be Adam Ticknor ("Tick" from The Colony, season 2)? He'd be a great choice.

Myke already does a survival show with his wife called "Man, Woman, Wild" so I doubt he would drop his wife for Cody but one never knows. If it is Myke then I will be surprised but I still doubt it. He has his own agenda.

Good thought. Would be a good choice. He spend more time with yoga now. Totally forgot about that show.
