backpacking/camping

Postby SIX20 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 1:43 pm

Sorry I realized I started to Hi-Jack that other thread. As far as the places you were telling me about, how far of a hike in is it? Im planning on a father/brother/brother/son little overnighter. It will be my sons first time carrying his own pack. So I dont want to turn him off of it his first time out. Also has anyone back country camped at lake mead? looks like it has a lot of ++ to it. With being blm land plus water.

Out at libellous canyon you don't have to really backpack you're stuff in but if you want to there are a couple spots where you could park and them hike up the mountain/hills a little ways before you set up camp. Lots of places to pick from out there but the downside is that during the summer you probably wont find water out there.

As far as lake Mead Ive only been camping out there once and it was at one of the camp sites but its something worth looking into for the future for sure.

we've been told that there is some out there but i haven't been out far enough. but where we camp at you can see where water runs through when im guessing the snow in the mountains is melting.

Thanks man, your directions where spot on. We ended up going to the 2.5 mile turn out and then backpacking in a few miles towards the hills. Whats the deal with the
houses out there? They all look pretty abandoned but then we saw some lights on in one at night.
