You do not want a 308 AR. (If you gotta have, get a damn scar)

Get your pistol, your reasoning there is sound.

If you want the AK, your selection there is sound too (or just build a BCM/DD/PSA AR for the same money). AK ammo is cheaper, maybe that's reason enough to get the AK.

10/22 of your choice is also good, I don't have any use for the takedown one, but whatevs. I never shoot mine, because why show up at the range with a 22 when you can bust 556 all day long? But I like having it, it's sort of one of those things everyone should just have as a citizen or something.

The SCAR is a wicked weapon, no doubt, but what's wrong with a .308 AR? Stoner originally designed the AR-10, and only downsized per the military's request for something chambered in .223. The recoil-mitigating effects of the DI gas system are much more noticeable in .308.

Get a quality one and you're okay. LMT, LWRC, and the other top-tier makers are solid. LWRC is apparently king of the hill right now.

Doc's right, if yer gonna do it, get a POF or some shit like that. If you are realistically looking at just range use and not going to war with it when the Canadians get organized, you shouldn't really have any gripes. Your just going to hate shooting it for ammo costs, at least I did. Either way, you'll use up your entire $2k on that weapon (and probably more)

That's my thoughts, once i get a decent .308 set up i will be through the cash. Unless they can be built on the cheep(er) ala ar15?

other than arsenal, what ak would you recommend?

VEPRs are very nice AKs too, and though for your budget I wouldn't bother with a WASR, they can be decent if you pick it out yourself and know what to look for.

Stay away from AKs made on US made receivers as a general rule, unless it was a custom job you ordered yourself. Stick with stuff made in a real AK factory, with chrome lined, hammer forged barrels, and you should be good.
