Double pack of Mora knives posted by Woodswalker above are sold out at Sportsman's Guide. I'm on the look out for these any time they can be had for under $10/knife.

Maybe it is best you didn't. I read some reports over a Bushcraft usa that those might not be real mora knives after all. :( I have pile of moras so didn't order.

moab wrote:I was looking for sage green colored (read camo), Goretex military boots for my INCH bag. They run $120 to $279 new. I found this guy on ebay selling USED sage green boots lined with Goretex for $59 delivered. (and tan and black - although not sure which if any are goretex) I know he has size 11 and 13. Not sure about other sizes I've not checked. But this is a great deal. Some show little wear. And they are Vibram soled so you can get them resoled later when they wear out. The green ones are generally Air force issue boots. Made by Belleville, Mcrae or Wellco. I think the Mcrae and Belleville might be a little better. I bought two sets just to try wide and regular size as I'm not sure which will fit best. For $59 it was worth it. I'll just sell the pair I don't need. His pics make the leather look tan and the rest of the boot green. But rest assured the whole boot is green. These are $120 boots for $59. If you don't mind a little wear. These go fast. I've seen a couple sales now on these. They are generally part of a DRMO auction in a lot. And they sell out fast.

This guy just listed some more sizes and make/model. I got mine (above) and they are GREAT. $150 boots for $60. Can't beat it. Barely used. For a Goretex waterproof boot, with replaceable Vibram sole and in camouflage sage green. Very comfortable.

Gerber Bear Grylls Survival Series Ultimate Multitool.
http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-31-000749- ... 734&sr=1-1

Image

Regular price of $75.00.
Going for $29.99 (it's Amazon's deal of the day so I assume this might go away soon).

I can't speak for Gerber as I have a Leatherman, but this looks like a good price on a real multitool.

There are a couple things I don't buy used. Condoms and footwear are among the top of the list.

It may sound morbid. But I have a collection of dead men's boots. It didn't start out that way. I just ended up with hand me downs from people who had died. And didn't really notice until after the fact. Many of my friends died suddenly several years ago. And some were my fathers friends. It seemed honorable to walk in their shoes. They were all honorable men. I know. Sounds like a sentence out of a bad B western.

So I don't mind used boots and shoes. Usually they're already broken in. And I've gotten way more expensive boots than I could ever have afforded to buy new. And all of them had very little wear. I have biker boots (been resoled twice - great boots don't remember the brand), cowboy boots (really expensive brands - don't remember the names though - I would have never even entertained buying them new - just to nice and expensive), dress shoes (one pair of steel toe shop shoes that I have worn literally out), military boots. All of which are way nicer than I would have ever owned. Had I had to buy them new.

I doubt I would wear a pair of worn out ones. As you can see from my pic above. Those Air Force boots were barely worn. In these tough times. I could not have afforded the $150 retail price. For $59. It was a score IMHO.

And what's wrong with used condoms you snob? ;)

It doesn't get any cheaper for this for a boo-boo kit that actually reflects some real thought in its specs:

•Contains a wide assortment of bandages and essentials for treating common complaints such as blisters and splinters
•Bandages: two 2 x 3 in. non-stick pads, three 3 x 3 in. gauze pads, two 4 x 2 in. adhesive bandages, 2 fingertip, 2 knuckle, and ten 3 x 1 in. adhesive bandages

•2 sting relief wipes and 3 PDI® Antiseptic Towelettes are included for cleaning bug bites, stings and wounds

I doubt you could buy the individual items for less than 2x the cost of this assembled kit.

ETA: REI members may be able to get it down to $4.28 a kit using the REWARDS20 coupon code.

ETA: Sorry to keep adding to this, but this looks like a slightly more capable version at $7.93, shipped:

Maybe not exactly bug out gear, unless you toss a few into your BOV, but starting on 4/16 The Epicenter is having a sale on Mountain House #10 cans.
10% off each can, 25% off each case, cans ship free. This place is also a great source for mre's and mre components.

If anyone purchased those fake Mora knives linked a few posts back it appears they're offering a refund.

Victorinox Swiss Army is having a sidewalk sale at their factory in Monroe, CT

Factory Address:
7 Victoria Drive
Monroe, CT 06468

I am within 5 miles of that so got some tweezers and toothpicks replacements for one knife and picked up a Tinker for 10 bucks. I lost my last one 4 years ago. Lots of knives etc on sale but someone would have to live in CT to make it worthwhile.

I picked up a couple of these a year or two back. Horrible quality, neither one worked out of the box due to broken wiring which is very thin gauge. I was able to get one to work eventually by taking it apart and re soldering everything but I really can't recommend these for even casual who cares situations much less a BoB.
