I haven't used one but the design is a basic copy of this widely beloved little gem. http://www.woodmanspal.com/categories/
If it says Bear Grylls name anywhere on the tool or packaging I would not buy it. (Because I'm a prick like that. :D ) I think for the money differnce, I'd buy the original sans sheath and make my own sheath for it.

I had seen the Woodsman's Pal years ago but never bought one . Kinda forgot about them . Made in USA is nice too .

I didn't see BG's name involved with this one . Just "The Walking Dead" notation .

Thanks

From a marketing vs earnings standpoint, I bet gerber is raking in the $$$ because of the grilled bear association.

But buying something endorsed by a vegan that eats bugs because it makes good television and who's "survival" show revolves around taking as many risks as possible while wasting as much energy as possible......................let's just say that gerber has alienated a large portion of their customer base to make money of the wannabears.
Whatever works!

I didn't see his name on this product ...

I'd get the woodsmans pal. The gerber is made in China. Thats a huge no for me.

Already been said that its Chinese but the grip on these are Mindanao awkward as well. Seem dubious as far as reliability and uncomfortable to say the least.

I'm leaning hard towards the "Pal" . Contacted them by email to see about possible dealer pricing but no response so far (week) .

I handled the Gerber ,,, bought the Woodsman's Pal "Military Premium M284" . No comparison . This is a serious tool !

Over 70 years in production and still made in Pennsylvania 8-)

Without holding either one in hand, just going by pictures, good choice! :D
