WTG! :D

Awesome, pal! Do you have a rig yet? Just curious what you decide to go with. Also, did the VEs make you try for Extra? How'd you do? :D

I picked up one of these: http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamhf/ts530s.html from a coworker for a great price. Just need to get some type of antenna set up.
Forget this dead man's town, I'll take you home.

The 530 is a nice classic radio.... Dont ove think the antenna. A simple dipole is all you need.

The VE “ highly suggested” that I give the Extra a try, but I had not even attempted to study for it so I would have been guessing for most of it.
I picked up an Icom IC-706MkII used but VG condition. I’ve been using it as my base 2m rig and now I can move into HF. Not a big rig but it can be batt powered and go mobile/portable when needed.
I have antenna restrictions at my current digs, so I went with a buddipole to start, also works into the portable comm preps end of things….;)
