Cornish Prepper

Postby fourpaws » Wed Mar 21, 2012 2:24 am

Hello guys.. just browsing as I do and I came across this article in the Sun.. (I know.. not everyones fave daily Red Top !) but still of interest...Reading the comments though made me slightly irate.. I know prepping isnt everyones cup of tea but why oh why do the majority of people still think were "end of the world loonies" ??

Its only common sense really ? Or am I being hyper-sensitive and over protective of my lifestyle ? Comments.. (and yes I know we've seen this before in other tabloids/dailies)

Bloody hell and now I'm at work!

Back OT though that guy is displaying poor PERSEC and OPSEC. Honestly I would not be surprised if Officers paid him a visit about his firearm licenses... :?

You're not wrong .. I'm not sure if he and his family are entirely at fault or its partially the media's fault as well.

I'm all for prepping and telling people that you TRUST about your plans... however to broadcast it on a national daily is a bit daft to me... and of course, should anything actually happen, which is a possibility, then every man and his dog in his AO is going to be knocking on thier door asking for help, shelter and feeding....

It's one of those paradoxes for preppers I believe.. we need to get more people interested, but by telling people what you do and how you do things, it brings the spotlight on you.

At this moment in time, only my immediate family know about what I do (and they all live about 40 miles from me) and the LHG's family have a slight hint of what I do... I daresay should the SHTF then the LHG will be gathering her family to my location... Could prove to be an ethical and moral dilemma for me.. :(

Hmm...

He sounds like a Nut Job.

"Larry said: "We're preppers, we believe in being as self-sufficient as possible. As a family we're about 99 per cent prepared for the end. " Bull, You can never be fully prepped.

"So far they have amassed 20 tins of potatoes, 15 tins of carrots and peas, 15 tins of steak and kidney pie and 100 tins of beans.

They also have 12kg of pasta, sweets for the kids and their water store. They even have half a pig, which they slaughtered themselves, in their chest freezer. "

Honestly? is that all the food they have stockpiled? and thats supposed to last them 2 months?

Its ok I speak to other people about roughly what you do to prepped, if they start working on there own prepps going into more detail is a good idea to help them. But its stupid in my opinion to tell anyone everything you have done if they are not in the least bit intrested in prepping themselves as it just makes you a target.

"Armed to the teeth" with two shotguns and a .22 'sniper rifle'

Its just what I'd expect from pretty much any main stream media, quote anything thats going to make a good sound-bite to fit the editors view-point

That guy has been made to look like some kind of tin-foil hatted fraggle whos brain washed his daughter, the problem is the family helped the paper do that to them.

Poor bugger

Interesting article, I doubt it'd be news worthy in the US though.

The Media made him look like a nutter. It's his Fault for talking to the Media. Of course, he could have got the media to give him a different spin, presenting yourself as a back to the land small holder won't get you much better press in the Sun, but in the guardian or the independent he'd probably have got a better image.

Ummm.... bums and norks... :D

Anyways.. OT... remind me not to talk to the redtops or any paper come to think of it.. Think that I'd rather keep my preps "secret" or certainly very low key.. bugger advertising it for when the SHTF... Not having no peasants or oiks bash on my door asking for help after they've dissed me ... mo'fo's ! :D :D
