Thats not a simple mistake, your social security card shouldn't be in a vehicle except on rare occasions. I know, my parents generation taught us to keep in in our wallets and I didn't know any better until I had kids, that seems to be a common mistake.

While I believe this is true I keep all of "my" important documents locked up. But he is a man be it an old one he makes his decisions but I've talked to him about it to get him caught up on what he should be doing and not doing.
