The Ghurkha Kukri Plus and the Kopis Machete look interesting, but nothing I'm going to rush out and buy. If the price on the Kukri isn't bad, I might pick one up for my BOB or plate carrier.

the gurkha will be around 329$ and made of SK5
but the jungle machete (looking like a kukri and is the same size as the kukri plus) and will be only 40$ (and will be 2.8mm which is by far one of the thickest machete i saw CS made )
the kopis will be 48$

I wonder how many months I will have to wait for the kopis machete? Or the cutlass one?

I waited nearly six months for my gladius machete. Yes, six months.

The machetes seem solid, I hate the brand but still own a few of their machetes honestly. The hollow survival knife had me rolling my eyes, the Leatherneck is also a face palm. But hey, I may just end up with their Jungle machete.

the biggest improve with their machete is: they come fully sharp (FINALLY!!!!!) and will be 2.8mm , no more floppy machete, finally sturdy.

for as far as delivery date, i don't know. it could be as close as 1 month or as far as 10 month.

Honestly, the chinese made bowie, sax, spear point and barong machetes were 3mm. They used to make a Kopis machete as well. Mostly fancier handles. For the price, the Buckler could have been made of steel, but then you might as well have bought this;

http://www.ima-usa.com/british-brodie-s ... t-tan.html

I'm guessing LT must have read that thread about stabbing a table with a kukri. A reworking of the handle mold to add a kopis style hook would have cost less to do.

you are right about those machete, but they are all discontinued, except the kopis who came back. those will be the thickest machete they have yet.

Hmm...

Apparently Lynn is a ZS fan too

I'm not the biggest CS fan, but I could see myself with one of those Samburu spears disassembled in a pack. I watched a guy take a white tail or hog on YouTube with one, so they must be at least a little capable... **ponders**

I'm very interested in the Russian Shasqua saber.

Any details on it, like the type of steel used and how much it'll cost ?

If the price is right, I may pick up a pair of them.

Well, looks like I'm back looking at the repros IMA-USA sells.

Almost 700 bucks for a sword is a ways out of my price range. They ever sell for under 200 bucks, I may pick one up.

i know it's far from be a shasqua but at least you could get the cutlass machete. it's as close as a full size saber as you could get for a cheap price. it would not be as thick as the shasqua 7mm bu at least it's 1.7mm.

*edit* sorry it's 2.8mm

I want the Shasqua due to the fact I'm Ukrainian and I have almost nothing connected to my heritage.
Granted, it wouldn't be the same as getting a true Shasqua from Russia or the Ukraine, but it'd be close.

Maybe I'll be able to afford one when they come out in a year or two.

well. the street price could be lower. you could save a couple of $$. or if you can go to the parking sale of Cold Steel you could get it for a even lower price.

i can understand what you mean by wanting to get a weapon that related to your ancestor. i'm looking for a sweet Scramasax and the Normand sword, because my family is originally from Normandy.

I passed on a real shasqua at the local gun show this summer, complete with the scabbard and 1891 Mosin bayonet. It will forever be one of the few times that I wonder "Why the fuck didn't I?" Mind you it was Soviet Era but does that realy matter? Oh ya the nice Russian fellow who had the booth wanted $300. Yes I researched it and yea it was real and ya you could call me a numbnutts.
Cheers

You know what? With all my misgivings of LT and such.... these are pretty cool. Wish he'd do an across the board "cheap machete" version for everything though. I, too, like that shasqua. The spears look pretty fun too.

I praise CS historical repro stuff... the cheaper stuff that is... as it allows some people with lower buying power to get into something thye normally just can't blow $500 on. Granted, for most of us, learning about the comabative side of our ancestry may be low on the priority scale but CS is helping out a bit with that by offering something you might be able to afford, learn some history, and fool around (safely, please) with it and maybe learn something.

The price posted is the suggested retail price. If you buy direct from CS you pay full retail. However. If you go through Kult of Athena,Knife Center, or Blade Matrix The price will be 1/2 or less

don't worry, even in the Cold Steel fan club (the cold steel forum) we have doubt about that knife until we are proven wrong. but knowing CS they will give hell to this knife to prove us that is could be a good knife.

until that test, i doubt i will get that survival knife, i would prefer get a bushman. but who know, maybe CS will prove us wrong.

but i can't wait to see that jungle machete and that cutlass and mostly that micro recon.

You might think that the nail nick and the other one is a bit silly, but they are a lot less threatening to many than something tactiblack.

A good modern alternative in a traditional wrapper for those that edc around people likely to give a negative reaction to anything "scary" looking.

just saying.....
Whatever works!
