THIS! I know, it's a TV show and you can't always focus 100% on zombies due to character developments and plot development...but when you have a story line like they're putting out, it's ridiculous. Aside from that last scene, and the brief scene with carl and the zombie, you could literally substitute ANY disaster scenario and it would fit. Hell, this episode could have been about what happened after hurricane katrina, or what would happen during an economic collapse. It was all about what to do with an outsider who was brought it, and whether or not to trust him. I just feel like there needs to be a little more action with zombies..even if they don't want to involve them heavily, send out a scout or something and track some positions..let us know that they're around, or not around..

This feels like a South Park moment. I literally went
"OMG They killed Dale!"

Then I heard little voices in my head "You Bastards!!"

LOL
Now if Dale is killed in the next 2 episodes also, then it turns into South Park.

All in good fun brother, your right. When those who have read the books said they kill off main characters all the time, they weren't kidding.

Shane's destruction has been coming for a long time, but I thought Dale was going to be around for a long time as the keeper of 'humanity' for the group.

While not my favorite, he was a good character and I'm shocked they killed him off.

So they lose another person under Ricks leadership, and now there going to cut the guy loose. And that's after Rick asked everyone for input and they, except for poor Dale and Andrea felt he should be put down.

Sorry, Rick's yes, no, maybe, let me think, OK, yes-no, wait a minute, well OK, umm, naw let's not, kind of leadership really sucks.

Everyone again, thanks... It's not like I need therapy or anything (well, not for the television show)....

Wow... Just wow...

This show, no one is sacred....

Oh well... If there is justice, someone will falcon punch Carl in the balls...

One question.... Does Andrea sorta inherit the RV now? I mean, she's taken to the rooftop watch, she's been using her rifle...

I imagine Dale's death, and the fact that Andrea spoke up in agreement with him during the "let's kill the kid" roundtable... Andrea is gonna be the one to watch...

Oh, and one more thing... Hate to say it, but the kid... Trying to save him was a mistake, they should have done what Hershel suggested and gave him the mercy that Daryl showed Dale.
Any further pain and misery is directly resultant of that act.
Lesson, unless you can gain intel, it's not worth it...

Second, expect the "other" group to come after them, Randall or no Randall... So if he is set free, it probably won't matter much...

It's about time they got their heads out of their asses....

It's not Rick's fault that Dale was foolishly walking around in the dark by himself and was too slow on the uptake to protect himself from a walker - among whose disadvantages is the inability to move quickly.

Randall didn't kill Dale. Rick didn't kill Dale.

I feel sorry for the cow.

I think Hershel could become Mr. Winnebego. The farm's about to be overrun - by Walkers and rapists.

Dale's death was nobody's fault (except the producers.... Damn you!!!!), he knew what was possible, he was armed... He was just slow... Hell, he wasn't a young man either...

It's an objective lesson... What he was doing was no different than some idiot walking thru a bad part of town, nose into his text messages, and earbuds blasting away at his ears...

Precisely. Great analogy.

Producers are making room for new characters. Nice of them to give the actors memorable exits.

Rick better put a bullet in it's head and fire up the Weber grill. The group is going to eat good for a while.

The only reason to save the kid would be to gain intel on enemy forces. Once that's done, he's a liability. Their indecision could cost them everything.

not sure I agree...I think its Carl's or Lori's fault. He should have said something about the walker and she should be keeping a better eye on her kid especially given its the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE! That being said I did not see Dale getting killed coming.

Lori and Carl need to be killed. They are the most annoying piece of crap characters to ever grace TV. I really hope Carl dies this season but I doubt it. Kid is seriously mentally handicapped.

Sorry SeerSavant :(

Boy, ain't that the truth.

But as has been said, these people have been begging for folks to get eaten for a long time now. No watch, people running off all alone with no accountability...well, except for Dale, he was held accountable for wandering off in the dark alone, in a big way. If that walker hadn't followed Carl, it was only a matter of time before someone else did something completely moronic, and got somebody killed.

It sucks it had to be Dale, but...

Walking out into a field
*alone
*in the dark without a light
*without telling anyone (notice how nobody seemed to know what was happening)
*didn't immediately go back and get reinforcement when something seemed odd (cow on the ground, acting strange)

I hate to say it, because I liked Dale, but Dagny was right. Carl's stupidity aside, Dale got Dale killed.

Maybe the group will learn from this. Sadly, I wouldn't bet on it. I hope that maybe we'll see Andrea step up now.

A Eulogy for Dale....

Dale, you were my favorite character... (and one of my favorite character actors) It was a simple choice at first... Of all the shotguns, you carried a rifle... of all the tents, you lived in an RV. With two young hotties, one of which you were supposed to get cozy with, alas, that will never be...

Later on, you just kinda grew on me... A phrase, those scary ass eyebrows, the way Jeffrey Demunn breathed a kind of life into the character that made Dale, Dale, and not some actor playing dale...

You were the voice of wisdom, although you were not always wise.

You were the soul of the group, and tried your best to put in that voice of consciousness that seemed to be lacking for so many others...

You had the best fucking hat on the show... period.

It's true, that Shane staying alive robbed you of some good conversations with Rick, ALA the graphic novel, and your demise in the graphic novel is far far superior and, dare I say, totally badass...
Yet.
I liked you better than your Graphic Novel version...

I'm gonna miss you, you old fart...

I would be a lot more somber, but this is, after all a televsion show... Currently the best on television... And you WILL be missed, but the one saving grace is that instead of being ignored yet again, the other characters will find some lesson in your words, Rick will use you to justify yet another not quite right, but not quite wrong decision that we will all notice, but those on the show won't.
Andrea will remember you, as you helped her remember her sister.... um, whatever her name was... Carl will get the metaphorical bitch slap across the face that his parents (hell, Carol) should have done. Glenn will be too busy worrying if he's a coward and getting freaky with Maggie to actually notice. Daryl will move on, having given you peace, after all, you got him to "talk" more than any one else was able too.... You also treated him better than the others (with the exception of Carol)
Shane.... Well, Shane will still be a douchebag, and it won't affect him at all, because it didn't happen to Shane.
And T-Dog.... Shit.. Is T-Dog still on the show? I think I saw him in the background, once... maybe... this episode...

So.

So long Dale... Hope your in a better place, and I hope Jeffery Demunn gets some more good roles....
