The serial numbers will have a "ZS" prefix, and run from 0001-whatever the total number made is. You will not get to pick a specific number. They are doing them sequencially because the ATF frowns upon putting out of sequence ones in the books. Too much potential for problems. If you really, really want one with 69 or your birthday, or some other specific number, you might consider buying an 80% lower from them and having them add the ZS logo to it before they ship to you. Then you can add whatever other markings or numbers you want when you make it.

My understanding is that the "first" side will be engraved, the "other" side will be laser etched.

Okay, so I hope folks who are wanting ZS on both sides realize that on the "other" side it won't be engraved, then... probably not an issue, but if I'd just skimmed over a thread and I didn't realize that and I was expecting something other than what I received, I'd scream to the heavens about it... don't wanna see that happen here!

I talked to them today. It was hard to hear, as they were on the shop floor. They said the noise I heard in the background was the lowers being milled out. As in THE lowers. As soon as they are done milling them out of the stock material, they will be milling the logo and other markings, and then sending them off to get anodized. We are looking at them being shipped within three weeks. :D

And got mine ordered.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I called them during work hours on one of the days they were open. They have an odd schedule. I think they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Just remember they are on Arizona time.

Oh, and just so that we don't have to go digging through all the old posts, I figured I would repost the picture of the test lower.

Ditto.. Still no reply from my queries re: them being able to hold one (plus a matching upper) until I get back to the US this summer... Will try again.

I don't see why they wouldn't. They've already got the CNC machine pattern on file. I doubt they will delete it, after this run. So long as this forum exists, there will be people who want a ZS lower.

Yes, but this run was condoned by the board to use the ZS logo. The next one may not be, and they don't have open-ended permission to continue using the Logo. Keep that in mind.

Huh... did anyone tell QD that? This is the first I've heard about the permission expiring, and if no one has mentioned it to QD they might keep selling it. As has been mentioned, it shouldn't be difficult for them to crank out new ones forever...

When will this lower be no longer available, then?

You were a part of the thread.

viewtopic.php?p=1987432#p1987432

There is the permission for this production run for a proof to be made.

viewtopic.php?p=1994209#p1994209

And there is the permission after the proof has been made, for the full production run.

A run does not mean a standard everyday product, it means a run of specialized items that only happens once (or however many runs are approved)

Yeah, I know I was part of that thread, but I didn't realize it was a limited-time offer. I don't recall hearing that until just now... if that's a "standard" thing, then I wasn't aware of it because I only really became an active member a few months ago, and this will be my first purchase of anything with the logo. Well, aside from that water bottle...

Any idea when QD will be told to stop selling them? I'd like two, but I can only afford one right now... need to wait until another OT day comes along before I have the coin to waste...

Yea, I'm not trying to give you a hard time. That's SOP for anything that uses the Trademarked logo. It's up to the board to give a hard date, but I would say that a production run is usually done in a batch, so whenever QD finishes up their production run is when it ends, unless the Board gives permission for more runs at a later date.

On the other hand, even if they finish this batch, they will still have everything set up and ready to go if the board approves a group buy later on. Or if people approach the board to get permission to have a few done. That is all up to the board, correct? But since the leg work is all already done, it is bound to be much easier the next time through.

Sure, there's nothing that says that they can't keep the files required for the machine -- with all the correct measurements, etc., in case the board approves another run.

I would call QD directly. I don't know the answer to that. But seeing as they aren't even going to start shipping them for at least another week or two, you will probably be fine.
