How does the dot look on the vortex strikefire? Is it blurry or nice and crisp dot?

The dot on the Red dot only model is nice and crisp. On its brightest setting, it is easy to acquire in the middle of a bright, cloudless day in the desert. The dimest setting is a little bright for my taste when using in low light conditions, but it still preforms fine. It also has an NVD setting, so that you can mount a NVD behind it and not have the optic flooded out by a bright dot.

You'll still come across informal reviews about this or other red dot sights where the user insists the dot is not perfectly round, appearing fuzzy or even as a slash. 9 times out of 10 this is because the reviewer isn't aware they have astigmatism.

If you find you consistently encounter red dot sights that have a less than clear red dot, chances are a trip to your optometrist is in order.

Well We'll bought one and the red dot isnt too bad if you dont focus on it. In green its worse.
This is the only red dot i notice this problem with.
I dont know how it will do in bright sunlight. I tried bore sighting it and noticed the adjustments are opposite of what it shows on the knobs. Calling vortex mondag about it. At least their customer service is excellent.

Are you sure the adjustments are opposite? If your looking through the sight and laser bore sighting an optic, turning the dial in the direction that says "right" will move the dot to the left, which will move the strike of the round right

Yeah, the arrows should be directing you which way to turn to adjust your point of impact.

I've put the SPARC's on the kid's guns after hearing good things about them. They're not Aimpoints by any means, but so far they seem serviceable. The much lower battery life would be a concern if I was going to use it for anything serious. That, and I doubt they'll stand up to abuse as well. It's nice to know that a couple sets of replacement batteries will likely keep my Aimpoints going for the rest of my life.

Maybe keep your eyes open for an older gen Aimpoint. They don't have the super long battery life, but they're just about bulletproof. You might be able to get one for the price of one of the lower end RDS's. I have 3 or 4 of them that I'm not using, and was going to sell, until I saw they don't bring much money and decided to just hang on to them.

Sighted it in today. They are backwards my poi was low left and turning it in the direction with the arrow showing right made it farther left. Turning it left brought the poi right. Same with the up and down. I turned it down to go up.

Weaver and Redfield both have descent variable power optics. I think you'll be looking to pay 2-300 for a 1 to 4 power optic.
If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

I could always just stick with the flip up sights for now...

IDK, decisions decisions...

If all you're gonna do is plink and have fun at the range, and not do anything abusive, get a Vortex Sparc. They are clear and stay on, with supposedly great battery life, and quite affordable. I'll never own one on a "working" rifle after a bad experience at a carbine class but I got no qualms putting it on a .22 or a fun gun, maybe even hunting gun, if I had a role that would be served with a red dot.

A coworker who isn't into all the tactical stuff says he has a great experience with his Bushnell red dots and holo sight. /shrug Otherwise, BSA, Tapco... just.. skip 'em
