Oh, he's not a bad actor, on the contrary, he's very good... But from what little you see of the Governor in the GN and the Rise of the Governor back story, I just don't see it with Morrissey...

I could be wrong... I was wrong when I thought.... Wait, that guy from the Commish is supposed to play some bad cop lead in this Shield show? No way....

But even in some popular bits, like his episode of Doctor Who was great, but I just am not of this guy playing menace very well... Righteous menace, sure, but pure selfish heel of a douche menace... I dunno...

That being said, some of the things from the graphic novel, specifically between the Governor and Michonne and his treatment of Rick, I think the Governor might be a far cry from the GN version...

Maybe they will play him in a totally different direction. :?

Vic Mackey: Good cop and bad cop left for the day.....I'm a different kind of cop.

Ahh, The Walking Dead. The one thing that has completely caused my Zombie obsession to go on full force!

I'm really happy that they have casted someone as the Governor. I honestly don't care who they got (well.. I hope they do a good job) I'm just happy that he'll be IN the show. Since for a while some of my friends were saying he was going to be cut out.

Very excited for tonights episode. Looks like it's gonna be amazing.

Did this episode suck, or what?
Seems like the next one is going to suck too.

tonight's episode was, well.........different.

More action, thats for sure.
Where the heck was ole Dale?, Hershel? Glenn? Carol & Daryl?
Not settling things with Shane will get someone killed down the road, and it won't take long.
Lori is a fruit cake, Andrea has become unhinged,
Deciding suddenly to start using pocket knives? Head stabs? Cutting your self first? Stupid......................
Not being able to decide the fate of the laddie in question shows just how silly the whole thing is getting.

more and more, just another soap opera.

OK, so I gotta ask:

Was Andrea a total bitch for leaving the girl alone?

I'm torn. Yes, if she really wants to kill herself, you can't stop her. But she is a very young girl, she may be able to work through it given time.

Andrea's thought was she should be able to choose to live or choose not too. But was she just projecting her own feelings as opposed to letting the girls family help her decide?

The more I think about it, it was the wrong move.

The fact that she offered to watch and then walked out makes me feel that it was over the line, she could have expressed her feelings and walked away instead of actively trying to facilitate it.

Episode: "18 Miles"

Wow - most powerful episode yet, IMHO. The tempo of the second half of season two certainly has picked up! Zombie-gore fans should be satiated with this episode. Walkers pouring out of that building like ants out of a nest. Rick's demonstration of the stealthy technique of pithing walkers (but strikes me as too dangerous in the TEOTWAWKI environment to be slicing yourself open regularly for bait blood). Rick extracting his revolver from the walker's mouth. The school bus. So much I had to avert my eyes from.

For me, the big draw of TWD is the non-zombie character interaction. Rick and Shane's chat at the intersection. I loved Lori and Andrea's kitchen interaction Lori to Andrea: "You've become such a productive member of this group..." standing on the RV "working on your tan with a shotgun in your lap.” Andrea: “You’re in my face for skipping laundry?”

Andrea channeled some of the the wrath of so many in the television audience: (to Lori) “The rest of us have piled up our losses. You just keep on keeping on.” “Husband. Son. Baby. Boyfriend.”

I was delighted to hear some key exposition - Shane: “Just a couple weird stories on the news.” “Two weeks later... shooting people in the halls.” And some long-range strategy from Rick: “Gotta start using our knives more.” Gonna need "dry goods, warm clothes, fuel.” “By December it’s a different world. Safer.” “Find some snowmobiles to make runs.”

For a second there, I thought Carl was going to be robbed of his big scene. Rick's just postponing the inevitable and I think he knows that but for his own sake he grants Shane a reprieve. The lone zombie walking through the field - beginning and end of the show - was a very haunting image.

Preview of next week's episode: Daryl appears to be channeling his inner Merle.

I really like Andrea's character but I'm wondering now if she'll survive long, or at all, post-Shane.

Fantastic episode. Am looking forward to your all's reactions to it.

Okay, tonight, I have to agree with you.

Kid helps Rick save Shane, and Rick is still considering killing him? And saving a guy that just tried to kill you what, three, four times? Just now? Shane must've hit him in the head pretty hard.

I think you're right. It happened to work out the right way, but it was the wrong move. Not in the least because we're still not 100% sure how people become zombies--if it's just bites or what. Leaving that girl alone like that could potentially have caused a lot of problems for the group. It may not have, but they don't know, and it's stupid not to take precautions.

If I were Maggie and Beth were my sister, I would have shot Andrea. She promised to watch over her and betrayed Maggie's trust.

But I think Andrea's right that Beth should be entitled to make her decision and Beth's point of view is certainly not unreasonable in that environment.

But slashing her wrists? Daddy's a doctor - steal some pills!!

Yeah but in fairness, you could flip that right around and ask "okay, so you're gonna leave your partner of x years and a guy who you've been surviving with because he tossed a wrench at you with a kid you saved after he shot at you?"

ETA- I get where you guys are coming from on Andrea......but I think her point was made. She was the only other person available that has actually been suicidal. She knew that no amount of hand-wringing or arguing, or hiding the silverware was going to matter one bit.
The girl will either do it, or won't. Now let her decide.

I really like this episode.

Rick is growing some balls. People can armchair quarterback his decisions, but consider that, in character, he's a guy who has lived by the rules to enforce the rules, an a world governed by a certain set of rules. He's not going to let that go easily. He's aware that there are no guarantees and a simple decision can have drastic consequences long into the future, so he wants to think things through. In a crisis, his thinking is to save everyone and sort it out later. He's also not used to a world where he has to make decisions like that, he has to make them quickly.

Has anyone here that is bawling on Rick ever been in a real crisis where 14 things are happening at once, you make the best decision you can at the time, and later see the "right" answer and ask "Why the f*ck did I do that?" You have to make mistakes, make them fast, and with limited info, with out the 3/4 overhead view the audience gets, and you make mistakes. Rick has flaws, he's human.

Lori is in hormonal-pregnant-woman-security mode. She wants an island of stability in an insane world. She's self-centered, and will do whatever she has to to get what she wants.

Andrea is in "I don't have anything left to lose and I want to f*ck things up" mode. She says she is looking after security for the group, but she really wants payback for her sister. She wants to hurt all of the walkers she comes across to take out her anger. She did what she did with the girl because she has no use for anyone not with the program, and wants to know if the girl really wants to die or not. That way, they won't trust her, get into a spot where they are counting on her only to have her off herself. My problem with what she did is that she went to Maggie and promised to look after her. If Maggie asked Andrea to watch her sister, I'd be a bit more ambivalent.

Shane is right about Rick continually putting them in danger. Rick keeps holding back, playing the thinker, as noted above. Shane is the anti-Rick: he's self-centered, emotional, and barely able to control himself. In normal times, they make a good pair. Not so much when sanity goes out the window, and they have diametrically opposed methods of dealing with it. The right answer is somewhere in between.

Am I the only one who wasn't a fan of this new "blood baiting" method? I mean, it's one thing if the zombies we're THAT attracted to it since day one, but they haven't been, and it just seemed like it was the more "convenient" method, instead of having to think of something else to fill in the few minute gap in this episode. When T-Dog ripped his arm open during that highway walker pass-by scene, he was GUSHING blood, squirting everywhere..and he just hid under a few corpses and the walkers passed directly over him without so much as a glance down..in this episode they we're after the stuff like vampires. I dunno, just seemed like we were dealing with two different types of zombies or something.

Anyone have a "Walking Dead" playlist? I've both songs from the original trailer, and the song from when Rick was locked in the tank, but I wouldn't mind having more...
