Pistol grip storage ideas and suggestions.

Postby ultra magnus » Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:51 pm

I plan on keeping a set of spare batteries for a Surefire and one for the Aimpoint in the grip. I want to put something in there so they aren't rattling around. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything that would be both useful and stop the rattling. Any suggestions for anything else that may be useful in there? Thanks.

I like Nidabew's suggestion, actually makes it waterproof, but I use Self Cling Ace Bandage material stuff. I wrap the batteries in that, stuff it into the handle, and when I need them, I unwrap them and they are good to go.

^^That was my first thought. Maybe cushion with bore patches if you don't use a boresnake.

I have a couple that have Magpul grips with battery inserts. They have a rubber plug tha fits on top of the batteries to keep them from rattling around. Get Lithium batteries for your sights and for storing on your gun. They are a bit lighter, they last for 10 years or more, and don't break down and leak like alkaline batteries do. I know they cost a lot more, but they are just better for this purpose. If you use a forward hand grip of some kind, you could also look at one of those that has storage in it.

I usually throw foam earplugs in the PG and VFG to keep the rattling down.

How about a little ziploc of cottonballs with vaseline? Great firestarter, and squishable.
Is gun oil flammable? Maybe you could soak some cottonballs in gun oil and have a firestarter/cleaning and lubing pads. Just thinking out loud...

Ergo makes a good grip with a compartment and lower cover, and Hogue makes a special management system, both for AR and AK platforms:

I have those small baggies but inside them I put all the tiny LPK pieces in case a spring fails or something.
Also have a set of small ear plugs and batteries.
