ok, so im tentatively in on this. I have a ruck and everything for that, but im still figuring out the whole gun situation. The only one i have that i can get to (as in, back home in the DFW 3 hours away) is my little .22 revolver. i have my rucking gear, but if anyone feels like sharing i can pick up some blasting ammo for them in exchange.

No sweat man. If my dad doesn't come I will only have my AR and about 100 rounds. and my gat but I probably won't shoot that. To me it's more about getting to hang out and maybe learn something.

true facts right there man. I just never get to get out and shoot like i want because the university or the cadet corps likes to screw up my plans.

well, since this trip is after spring break, so i may be able to grab my new AR and break her in. It all depends on how everything ends up working out. And, thanks for the offer, and if my plans to get one of my rifles falls through, i will let you know.

Damn, this thread blew up in a hurry.

I'm waiting to hear back from the Red Cross about the date for their spring filed exercise. Then we can put out some possibilities on when we can do this.

I dunno. I would think along the lines of what we do in Full-Scale ICS (Incident Command System) Exercises. Have some kind of huge mock disaster and go through all the motions-moving equipment, setting up command centers and shelters, having victims to rescue, etc. I'll ask and see.

The one on the far left is mine (I'm GRIMSTONE's dad), and the one that is second from the right is the one that GRIMSTONE and I built for my wife (his mother). By the way, that M1A on the left that you like is for sale: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=52414&start=30, http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=181785 if you're really interested in it.

well if it were up to me, i'd be blowing stuff up all day and night, but my wife would be more inclined to go if there's more to it. archery was mentioned, that sounds cool. maybe a bbq? bonfire? can anybody teach anything specific like foraging or shelter building? idk...

No bonfires, the VFD here is silly. we can BBQ for sure. Definitely some archery. I usually set up at 15 yards inside my house. Up to 40 in my front yard and if you're nasty we could get it out to 100 beside the house. We can also carry targets to the range and set them up behind us shooting the opposite direction. Up at the range there are plenty of trees and stuff to do some sort of shelter business. Not much to forage here that I know of, but then again I don't know shit about foraging.

I understand. Lesli didn't really seem to care about any of this stuff until she met some of the crew. Now she's all about it

if anyone wants, i can do some knot/lashing teaching, and maybe demo building debris shelters. I don't know how y'all are about chopping down brush to use for that sort of thing. FWIW I usually just chop down some smallish cedar trees since nobody likes those.

I may also try to convince Jen (my GF) to come out. I talked to her about it, and she wasn't so keen on meeting (somewhat) random strangers from the interwebs. She might be more into it if other womenfolk are around\
