I'm almost certain most doctors, like you said, won't give you stockpiles of any narcotic pain meds. May be a good idea to resort to some natural things, there are a couple good options that are completely legal, probably acquirable if SHTF doesn't include nuclear/chemical/smoke winter. I am not an expert on this but things like ginger root, silver (colloidal) and garlic are often mentioned by naturopaths as good natural antibiotics. From a pain front I know clove oil is a pretty potent topical pain med especially for toothaches. I am sure there are other such plant based solutions out there that will not require you to acquire and store narcotics. Not sure this would work for a medical emergency but I am sure there are people here who know more about this than I do. Most of the stuff I know of are probably tropical, from grandparents etc when growing up, not sure how that translates to North American forest/woodland.

Antibiotics are prescription meds. And, they have expirations. Stockpiling antibiotics is unwise, and likely illegal. There is no "general" antibiotic to give someone-they all do different things, and someones immune system may, or may not, react properly to the drug. Giving someone penicillin for a gunshot wound will likely not do anything for them at all.
Now, if you are on PRESCRIPTION meds, thats a different story-you may be able to retain a 1 month supply, just in case-but, thats something between you & your doctor.

I will say this.... read wilderness medicine by M.D. Fogey. Find the right doctor and you will be set. Also be keenly aware of vet meds there is nothing illegal about buying tetracycline for your fish or chickens. You may be suprised by a good doctor who enjoys back packing or hunting. the 90s were a grand time i could but a litre of penicillen or arythromiacin. sadly those days are gone. I have chosen to deal witha good doctor who knows and understands our health problems and future concerns wish you the best of luck.
