Awesome find, guys. You'd be amazed at what shows up in a pawn store from time to time, and yes the owners ARE aware of the real value of some of what they carry. They just make too much to give a damn.
Case in point: I was looking for a handheld flash unit for my SLR camera and came across an old but perfectly functional Sunpak. Sunpaks are top of the line, professional grade flashes.
The one I was looking at had a marked value of $200. Their asking price: twenty. I asked the cashier if it was right, he confirmed it. I asked him if it worked, he thought so but sold as is. I gave him twenty dollars, went home and tested it. Worked like a charm and it's in my camera bag.
I went back the other day to pick up the titanium Kershaw they had for $29 (got them down to low twenties before, but didn't have enough to get both knives at the time)... And it was gone ...Oh well, someone got a deal.
But I picked up a ZOOM guitar amp (small practice) that is in great shape, but the speaker plate was (is) loose/stripped screws, for $20 out the door... Cleaned it up, it works great, fixing the plate now. Will be worth at least $75 or so when I'm done. This pawn is by far my favorite!
Great job! I love the local pawn shops but lately they have been a little bare. I hope they can stay in business... I love getting DVDs for $2
Not to turn this into a pissing contest because, God knows, my penis is large enough, but I can top your Leatherman Wave story.
About a year ago I was wandering through the local PS waiting for something to catch my eye. I noticed a pouch in the case that I thought would be useful for something. When the clerk took it out and I looked, I found a pristine Wave. The clerk thought there was something missing or broken but I couldn't see anything wrong with it so I bought it.
