I've been looking into getting one or two to use as backup lights/rear worklight.

Thanks!
I see that you bought then from a US dealer, it'll probably be better for me to but them directly from China. I'll do a search and see what I can find.

Your choice of course, but since I already bought from this seller, and I can vouch for the quality of his items through personal experience, I'd count that as a "plus" in favor of buying from a known good source.

I know that when I add the other six I'm planning on that I'll be purchasing from the same place I got the first two from.

*added later: Duh, I just realized you were in Norway and not the US. Yes, it would probably be better in your case to risk it and get them from a seller in China. Do let us know though how it works out for you. If the quality is good then we'll have two "vouched for" sources to pick from.

Yup, it'll be cheaper for me to get them directly from China.
You don't happen have a product code of some sort BTW?

'fraid not... I bought them early last year and the boxes they came in (plain white as I recall) are long gone. I could probably climb up on the truck later and see if there's any codes on the units themselves though.

No problem, and no need, I found them in Hong Kong.
I placed a bid on one just to see if I can get it cheap, if not they're $46 shipped to Norway via the "Buy it Now"(That's just for 1, but it'll still be cheaper since the US seller wants $56 for shipping the pair to Norway)

I think you'll be pleased with them. The photo I posted doesn't do them justice, they are far brighter than they appear in that picture. That photo was taken during Amatur Radio Field Day last summer, in a county park with only a single street lamp off in the distance. The lights worked so well we soon set up a table and chairs behind the truck and played cards. :)

Flushed motor. Replaced and filled the new radiator. Added a bottle of 100% ANTIFREEZE to my bed box because when I blew my radiator 2 weeks ago, the antifreeze in it wasn't mixed properly. So I went to get my coolant jug, but found it to be a block of ice. Installed a new thermostat for good safety. Got spare top and bottom end radiator hoses incase one of those pop. Finally replaced the tire plugs I used over the summer on the lawn mower, 4 wheeler and the truck. Restocked the snacks in my truck bag that the niece and nephew got into. Switched the long wood handle spade shovel with my short fibergalss handled grain shovel. Checked all other fluids. Tire pressures including spare. I think im ready to go.....hopefully.

I'd suggest carrying pre-mix 50/50 instead of 100% coolant. You need to dilute it before using it (straight, undiluted, coolant isn't recommended) and when you need it you might not have a water source... or it might be frozen, like you found with your jug.

Bid and won the auction on 1 LED worklight(the same as the ones KJ4VOV got) from Ebayseller segolstrade2010. paid $29 incl shipping.

This weekend I mounted a glasshammer and my smokemask in the car, using hooked velcro on the carpet of the car. Dunno how it'll hold up, but they haven't moved so far :D

Ahh ok. I never even thought of that. So I think I will just mix the gallon out and make 2 gallons of 50/50. Thats my project today. Thanks KJ4VOV.

What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your BOV

Postby benja455 » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:58 am

I made arrangements to purchase a 1995 Toyota Pickup (pre-Tacoma). Four cylinder, 5 speed, 4x4, bed cap, nice lift and tires plus a mean grill guard with winch mount. Oh, it's got the tow hitch and roof rack too.

167,000 miles with two owners...every record since brand new. It's definitely a better BOV than my current daily driver: 1998 Honda Civic EX (four door).

I Had one of those when I was in highschool! Have been looking for one since i scraped it. :( If I only knew what I know now. I would still have it. It was a simple clutch fluid resevoir, but I had no money to fix it! All I know is keep up on the oil changes in those and you should go well past 200,000 miles with no major expenses.

Went through my tool box. Found and replaced all the missing sockets and wrenches that I either used in the garage, or on another vehicle that I then threw in the trunk. I also added a roll of gorilla duct tape. Replaced the half used jug of washer fluid with a new one. And added a 2nd bottle of motor oil.

Added an auxillary speaker in my truck for my Yaesu FT-7900R. Way better audio; speaker is a Midland one that's similar to the Motorola Public Saftey speakers, same dimensions. Got it for near nothing.

Aux speakers make a world of difference in a mobile. I have three radios in the cab on my truck, two ham and one CB. By using aux speakers for the two ham radios, up on the back of the cab, I get much clearer and cleaner audio and I can tell, depending on which direction the audio comes from (which speaker) what radio the transmission is on without having to look.

Just orderd new engine mounts as the rubber in mine is falling out. Here are the mounts

http://www.atozfabrication.com/store/Je ... ounts.html

Also purchased from poison spyder a rear sperader bar to reinforce the factory sport bar. Will end up turning it into a full or semi full cage. The 2.5L go slow build is back into action.

http://shop.poisonspyder.com/YJ-Rear-Sp ... 18-020.htm

(Edit) just pulled the trigger on a pair of lift shackles for the jeep. This will give me almost 6 inches of lift with my current setup.

We're in the process of buying a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Not as much storage as I'd like, but all four of us can ft in it nicely and it's got 4WD.

Ordered new wheel bearings, rear wiper motor and E brake for it this weekend. Should be here on Tuesday and we should have it on the road by end of the week.

Also sourced a trailer hitch storage rack from a friend and fellow Scouter!
