Wintergheddon

I know there was a move to get this nailed down BEFORE it happened, so having missed the Nov. meeting, what happened with this? We know anything yet?

I'd like to go this year. Two in a row I've missed so far.
I'll bring the whiskey

We decided we're going to shoot for MLK weekend at Cuivre River again this year. Look forward to more information after we get the event all approved with corporate.

So I can make it on Saturday. Friday night is a big metal show with three bands... and I can't miss that. I mean I can, but I'll get like fired or something... maybe.

Sylvia cannot make it camping, but I am bringing another person with me. She does not bake bread or have other super powers.

and whiskey. lots of whiskey.

edit: this is happening the weekend after friday the 13th right??

I'm in for sure. I also want to hike around the park a bit more than I have before, but that will depend on how shitty the weather is. I'm also going to try and get all my stuff into one bag, so I can prepare for an actual bugging out situation.

From crypto:

All: Wintergheddon is only 2 weeks away, so its time to get things in motion.

Leaving Friday, 13 Jan
Returning Sunday, 15 Jan

The current weather prediction for our weekend is 30 and snowing, both
days. Thats a recipe for heavy thick snow, so plan accordingly.

The game plan will be like last year: convoy out from the city
early-ish in the morning on Friday. If we have a westerly contingent
that doesnt want to rally from the south side, we can stop by Bass Pro
in St. Charles to pick them up.

We'll break camp on Sunday, have the traditional Wrecking Of The
Denny's, come home, and have the ZS meeting Sunday night. That gives
you Monday on MLK day to recover if you get that day off.

I need to tell the park rangers approx how many we're going to have
this year so please reply soon if you're gonna head out with us.

Here's my gear list this year:

Winter Camping means a lot more stuff to bring.

Whos bringing an axe/saw this year? Some years we have 10 axes, some years we dont have any!

I'm not sure if I'm going to adjust fire on my list due to the possibility of wet snow. Maybe just add rain pants, because my outer layer parka is pretty damn waterproof.

I am hosting a Metal show Friday. I'll be driving down Sat morning (late)

I can bring a saw, ax, shovel, and a bucket.

I want to buy a sled and try it out for hauling stuff to camp, and then see if it works for wood hauling. one of the heavy black sleds for ice fishing.

Is anyone bringing an actual full sized axe? With my elbow issues, I can't really use a hatchet, so I may just bring my big axe.
Also, I'll be bringing files and sharpening stones, so we have that covered.
