Fit new rail attachment to HK MP5 .22lr (it fits! not like the last one I bought. Has cheapie red dot now on it also)
Bought 20lbs fire extinguisher for the kitchen (now in kitchen!)
Bought cheapie raincoat for wife's GHB (actually put it into the bag)
Bought new deadbolt lock one room (broke it during installation! WTF?!?)
Bought 8GB thumbdrive to store all important information/documentation (oh man, just thinking of scanning for hours at a time makes me roll my eyes)
Bought another 16pk of water bottles to throw in the truck for travelling (hasn't made it to the truck yet)

All in all I think I did quite a bit, or bought some decent stuff!

Restocked it with gear that had been taken out to travel with on a trip to California. Topped off both fuel tanks.

Spent the last three hours completley stumped on why I couldnt get my truck to start. Would run for about 2 seconds and die; was getting fuel and everything, made sure the cap/rotor were dry since it was really humid, and couldnt figure anything out. Ended up being a loose ground; somehow the major ground to the head (bolted to stud) came loose. Tightened it up, reset the PCM/ECM memories, and good as new. Glad that's all it was; may have just missed tightening that stud all the way after rebuilding the top end of my truck. Makes me happy to say that I've had zero problems at all with my 99 Dakota in the last two years, which is apparently saying something for owning a Dodge? Then again, considering that the internals of the engine was almost brand new at 88k miles speaks volumes about the condition of the truck as a whole. Only reason we did the engine teardown was that a peice of sheet aluminum came apart from an aftermarket air filter assembly and got stuck in the exhause valve of cylinder 6. Of course, it had new beadblasted ported heads and full headers when we were done, and I got a K&N to replace the filter.

Anyway, after that I:
-Finished installing the Rigid Industries lights I got
-Repacked the winter GHB
-Changed out the washer fluid; I use Prestone De-Icer since I park outside every day in the winter.
-Finally hardwired my small inverter (1-110v, 1-USB, 1-12volt) to run my GPS/Cell Booster/and laptop when it gets used.

Ordered a new set of glow plugs and glow plug relay for it.

Amazing what a modern engine can do isn't it. I blew the radiator and overheated my 4 cylinder s10 at 170,000 miles, took the head and block to a machine shop and they were amazed to still see the honing marks from the factory in the cylinder walls, they thought it had 70k not 170k.
I changed the oil every 3000 miles which was monthly with my job then

Yeah, the crosshatching looked brand new when I had the heads off as well; it was a 1-owner at the time of my purchase, and the guy checked off all the stuff in the owners manual (he did it all himself) except he noted that he did the trans flush at the factory, as well as the factory replacing the recalled upper ball joints.

OT- You reminded me I need to do an oil change this month, I planned to do it last month but with the holidays and work I forgot about it. I usually change oil every 3-4 months since I dont drive that many miles, but it's severe service. I use Amsoil Signature 5W-30, and I honestly think it's the best motor oil for a severe service non-race vehicle. Preformed outstanding on the ATSM wear test; IIRC about~ 30% better than Mobil 1 and ~20% better than Royal Purple. I think vehicles get a bad service reputation because most people dont change their fluids or take care of their cars like they should. I cant even count how many people didnt know their truck/car/jeep has grease fittings...but anyway, ya cant help them all.

Timing cover? Front Oil Pan Gasket?

OT-Got supplies to neaten up all my wiring for the lights, ham, cb, and siren/horn. Right now everything is pretty haphazard; I got 3/4 split loom so the wires I'm running through the firewall dont fray. I cant use a grommet because I cant even touch the hole, I tuck the wires into 1/4 split loom and thread it through with fishtape, but the wires are spilling out of the loom and I have 3 speaker wires that arent even in the loom. I also want to recrimp the connectors with shrinkwrap stuff, I still have to go looking for that however.

Nice! Can I spot 4 Rigid D2's on your roof rack?

OT: Picked up some Wiring supplies an started to clean up my wiring. I'm thinking about putting in a 6-junction fuse box so I don't have a plethora of wires to the battery.

Yeah, I love the two I have on my front bumper. I'm getting a 6" E series in a month or so to put between them, in a spot beam. Do you have a BOV thread?

OT: Added winter face coverings to my BOV kit.

I'm going to commute to a hospital for the next 2 months(I'm currently on my 2nd year of studies to become a nurse), and that road has a lot of tunnels. Driving trough all these(the longest being 2,7 kilometers) got me thinking about tunnel fires, so I called up a buddy of mine who've recently started importing fire escape hoods. He delivered one on the door today :D

It's the ASE-SAFETY Purify AIR 30M(the CE marked version for Europe):
Image

It's in a softpouch, so I don't know how and where I'll mount it just yet, but it'll definitely be within reach of the drivers seat tomorrow at 6.15AM...

Updated SAR/GHB in truck. It's more of a SAR bag however, but I'd really like to get around to buying a bailout bag or something as a dedicated GHB kit holder. I have GHB supplies in my truck, but they're in a bunch of different spots. If I break down somewhere, I can throw it all in the SAR bag, but if I need to bail out, I'd only have the complete basics. My minimal bailout kit is a small 15x5x4 pack that has a bivy, firestarters, and water purification. I'd like to have a little more, and food.

Started planning for the install of my Dually reverse/flood lights. I dont have room to run another switch harness through my firewall, so I'm going to wire them to a remote control box that I'm going to install on my bed storage divider. 10ga wires from the switch box to the battery, switch box has 4 leads for 4 devices, max 10amp's each, which is plenty for some LED lights drawing 1.2amps. They remote switches with a keychain fob, and I get two. One is gonna get velcro'd in my truck, the other on my keychain. That way I can turn them on if I'm not in the vehicle if, for example, I hear intruders but cannot confirm sighting (I park outside, but my window faces my truck) or for convience when camping.

Amateur band antenna? I've known a few CB antenna's to be stolen, but not many HAM ones because no one has the gear for it. I suppose they could get sold or something.

I worry about my antenna sometimes, as it's like a $70 Coment 2x4SR gain antenna (3.8/6.2dbi 140/440mhz). Spendy.

Yeah, I've got the MFJ version on the cab of the truck. (You do know that the same identical antenna is sold by Comet, Diamond and MFJ, and all three come from Nagoya Antennas in Japan, right?)

The one that got stolen was a Comet SBB-2NMO mounted near the back of the box, just ahead of the rear lightbar, and used for the Yaesu FT-8500 in the back (setup as a dedicated cross band repeater for PS work). I noticed it was missing as I walked up to the truck tonight after picking up groceries. Climbed up on top when I got home expecting to see a stub (had heavy ice buildup on the truck last night and I figured a chunk blew off at highway speed and whacked the antenna) but it was pretty obviously stolen, and not today, because the NMO mount was bright and clean, but coated with a 1/2" of solid ice over it. I figure it got stolen Saturday morning of last week at our monthly club breakfast. We have it at a local Golden Corral and there's been problems with broken and stolen antennas there before, usually mag mounts though. Our monthly club meeting is Tuesday night, and I'm going to propose we find a different location for the club breakfasts.

Hmm I didn't know that they also made versions of the 2x4SR, I never noticed them looking through all the catalogs. I would second moving your club meeting if the antenna's keep getting stolen. You have links to any vehicle pictures by chance, your truck sounds interesting.

OT: Installed the Rigid Industries Dually (1/2 power D2's) lights on my back bumper; will post a pic or two on here, but I'm going to create a review on actual subforum, as I took a lot of pictures.
