Was just cruising the Barnes & Noble site. They're taking pre-orders for TWD Rise of the Governor...... I gotta get that one (if anything, just to hopefully find out who that little zombie girl was).

I just saw on AMC that they're going to show a sneak-peak of TWD season 2 during next Sunday's premier of Breaking Bad.

wonder if michonne is going to be introduced in season 2. i know they spoke about hershel and co, but i really hope the actress playing her does it justice. she's one of my favorite characters besides glenn and abraham.

Oct 25,2011 release date according to Amazon.
For those of us who buy the hardback collections this wait has been grueling.

I was thinking, with my new mod powers and the corruption of my soul and such, that I could cull comic posts out of the TV show thread. That'd take too much time though. So, please post about the comic in here!

#90... another zombieless issue.... and full of the machinations of the characters all over the place. There's even the "vixen telling the bad-ass that he should be in charge" thing going on.

Yeah, seems like just as soon as Rick puts out one fire, another one pops up. I'm hoping that Bad-Ass would have more sense than that......But then again, what would have been the point of that whole scene?

Didn't Kirkman say one time that Rick would never make it past issue #100 ?

I do remember that, like early on in the letters page. He may have been being obtuse though. He also says he's got enough material for 300 issues too. Who knows though, we'll see. I have seen zero trade information on future story lines, Image and Kirkman are keeping all that under some tight wraps.

It's Hershal's family and friends. He thinks there might be a cure someday.

The current issue raises a valid point. The run-and-gun crowd, even if effective, can remain so only as long as there is ammo and food in pre-packaged form. It's at least two years into the PAW and apparently no one is producing food. The canned goods are supposedly exceeding the freshness dates, assuming they can still keep track of time. Even to reload ammo requires manufactured components that in all likelihood are also in limited supply.
Remember that our current culture has been eliminating warehousing and stockpiling to cut costs.

While I'm at it, Rick is only now surveying the community for farming experience. You would think that would have surfaced sooner, like after the first winter hit. Another issue is the extensive use of hybrid grains. they produce better yields, but at the cost of sterile grain. Hybrid corn kernels don't or should not germinate. Only seed that's heirloom will produce viable seed for future generations
My son, you will travel far, but never be alone, for I am with you, my M14 and battle axe comfort you.

Except for the acidic fruits and veggies, most of the canned food would last for several years or decades depending on how it's stored. But they've already talked about their deminishing food stores, which is one of the reasons that Rick is having them go scrounging "in force". They had a nice garden going at the prison but didn't get to stick around to reap the benefits. Now they're wearing coats and jackets so winter is coming on, so they'll have to wait a while before they can start another garden where they're at now.

That's what I'm interested in seeing in this story line - is it going to get crushed a la prison? Or are we going to stay in the community and watch it grow and drama sprout from that? I hope they stay and grow the community and Kirkman has the story line sprouting drama and adventure while they stay in the community and grow with it. Personally, I'm tired of the "mobile" survivor cliche and think that there is plenty of room for stories while a community sprouts. Hell, it happens in real life all the time.

As has been mentioned, it's been almost 2 years. Time to set up roots and get it going.

Also, I do hope Capn' Rae don't mind that i edited his title to just "Comic Books". We do have an incredibly active thread for the show already so no need for this one to also have posts in it about the TV show.

Okay, who's the dude/dudette at the end of #91? I didn't see a crossbow......but you never know.

Also, getting a bad feeling about Sophia's story line.

Looks like a scout for a new "power player" on the scene? Maybe an advanced scout for a group come to find out what happened to that other group that got greased a few issues back? Some new lone-wolf to challenge the bad-assery of Abe? Theyt gots an AK and a BOB.

Also, it was mentioned/asked in the TV Series thread whether the word "zombie" was ever used in the comic book. The answer then was "no" but I just found in vol. 2 of the trade paperback that Rick says it while they are in the gated community they thought they could hold up in for the winter. I'm re reading the early volumes.

I think the series storyline is due for a power shift, our protagonists have been on the shitty end of the stick for too long. Yeah, they got some victories but took heavy losses in those. I want to see how Rick progresses and deals with his own hubris as he moves along in the storyline. Same with some of our other regulars. I'd like to see some of the secondary get moved up and maybe another major death or 3.

A shift in the sense that Rick and his community becomes the new power player in the region amongst the others that we have not met yet. Maybe we will also get a wider view of the same region.

I went back and re-read the series a couple weeks ago and noticed "zombie" atleast a dozen times. I could have sworn they never used the word the first time I read it.

A lot of the characters seem to be opening up psychologically, they are in a "safe place" so can afford to. We are now getting a chance to see the full pathology of the new world and how our survivors are now living as opposed to just surviving.
