Zombie Body Armor

Postby ThePhuckStopsHere » Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:20 am

Ok , here's the task .
What elements would you incorporate into a full on set of body armor that is specifically designed to protect you from a attack by the walking dead.
Be serious , and have fun with it . I am interested in hearing about other people's ideas .

non-laminated kevlar weave hoodie, pants, gloves and some means of attaching the hoodie to the pants at the waist, probably a heavy duty zipper, just to keep them from pulling it up by accident. the goal is to prevent bite attacks while retaining as much mobility as possible. without the lamination process, the kevlar pretty much has zero ballistic protection but would be extremely had to bite thru.

A full body condom. With spermicide.

Aside from the obviously humorous answers. your going to need something to stop biologic contact. Like a full NBC suit of some type.

Nothing you can just add to you normal body armor and walk around in casually. Nothing that works is light weight or comfortable.
Unless in your zombie world it takes more than just fluid transfer to infect you. In mine that is all it takes.

Blue cable is just overkill.

I like the carhart bib overalls idea , I have several pairs I wear at work , they are great because I don't spend all day hiking up my pants . The canvas material is super tough .
The biological aspect is un-avoidable , but if you for some reason have managed to not contract the virus when it was introduced , then maybe it simply requires fluid to enter your physical blood stream through a bite or scratch .
That's the main purpose of this . That extra protection when locked in a hand to hand combat scenario with the undead .

Never get in hand to hand combat if you have a gun.

Just use the gun.

I'm in the middle of Rot and Ruin by Jonathan Mayberry, and he has a neat idea.

A coat made from carpet... Just carpet...

Figure the dead are no more powerful than alive, and carpet is pretty tough stuff...

in reality.. i would probably wear my cameo snow boarding jacket and cut wet suit for bottoms and wear jeans or cameo pants over that depending on the season. for summer time cameo shorts or paintball pants with tall socks/leg protectors/shin guards (i played soccer for 14 years so i have a lot of extra stuff, and tournament paintball for 4 years)
i am a fan of neoprene with the only exception it gets very hot if your aren't in water. oh and goggles and a mask/respirator or a paintball mask and gloves

Carhart bibs and coat if I'm on the move. Rather be hot and sweaty than the latter. That paired with my snake boots should make it somewhat difficult to bite through...

Keeping the dead down for good.

I wear combat boots everyday. Why? Because, they're good for my back and ankles. And for that smartass that wants to mouth off today.
